irk this am, then off to my niece’s house for dinner and then back home and back to irk.
I don’t have to cook, or clean, or bring anything but my smile to dinner.
Had to go to Best Buy yesterday to take my brand new phone back to exchange for one that doesn’t have issues*. People were lined up already for Black Friday, salesgirl said they had started lining up 9PM on Tuesday. There had to be 20-25 people there already, and from their demeanor they were taking some serious nips from a paper bag or had lighted up some whacky tobacky.
So they had no more of my phone in stock, sold out and it would be at least three weeks before they got more in. Fortunately, at my suggestion, one of the stores that does have them in stock is shipping one to the store in my area. The poor salesgirl was all apologetic that it will take a week and I told her there was no way I was going near any store for the next four days. After today’s dinner I have no intention of leaving the house for the next four days.
*When I try to get online I (sometimes) get a message telling me that my device is sending continuous requests to access the web and my request is being denied. Also, a few sites won’t load and I get pop-up after pop-up after pop-up telling me to click ‘ok’ to retry. Very annoying because there is no cancel option.
Hey, I’m ready too! You have all got veggie options haven’t you? I ain’t going all that way to have nuttin’ to eat…
I think I’m bottling my first batch of homebrew wine today (assuming it passes the final check that it’s stopped fermenting), so I could bring some of that over?
I am currently awaiting a new phone via fedex because the touch screen has erratically started (heh) touching itself. I can barely get it to cooperate long enough to call someone. Texting is almost out of the question. It will be through five different apps and try to call 10 random people within 2 minutes. Hopefully my new phone will be here tomorrow.
Sorry swampy, nothing that exciting. I got talked into/convinced myself to go walk in a Turkey Trot race this morning. I was advised by my doctor not to do the 5K because of my knee, so I did the 1 mile fun run instead. And it was, indeed, fun (even though I got lapped by a Scotty dog and his owner).
Now I’m home and feeling chilled and HUNGRY because I can smell the turkey. I think I’ll wander off and find a granola bar or something.
Pre cooking day went well, Lamb and Turkey are ready for their respective ovens, Fart blossoms are brining away waiting a hot skillet and bacon grease, NOT are awaiting a second bake all mashed up and very garlicky, artichokes are breaded and fried, sweet NOT are ready for the broiler, the dessert that I need to name is done plus pies.
The dessert I need to name? Flour, butter sugar crust. Butter caramel and topped with Heath pieces and baking chips. Any thoughts?
Have to get moving, still have 2 risotto dishes to make, dinner at 5 central, come on down
Happy Thanksgiving !!!
Pies , Casseroles & Cranberry relish are made & I’m just getting ready to go get Thomas (Thomasina?) Turkey ready to be roasted & et, then boiling aigs. Got the parade on, gonna be listening to this later.
Turkey and cornbread dressing have been launched. Everything else takes less than an hour to make, so I have three hours with nuthin to do. I see a nap in my immediate future…
Turkey is outta the oven and smellin’ nummy!!! I’ll let it set for about an hour and then carvin’ will commence. Forget all this presentation of the turkey at the table and all that. Carve it up and keep it warm I say. Other stuff will go in the oven a little later. Now, I say it’s Bloody Mary time!
I have been given a reprieve, of sorts. I don’t have to be at my MiL’s until noon today. And, she’s not making turkey; she’s going with chicken instead. This doesn’t break my heart because I am not a fan of turkey. I always feel a little sick after eating turkey.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy your friends and family.
that sounds so good! specially the bloody mary, hehe. Yesterday I marinated shrimp and onion and cucumber in clamato, and REALLY wanted to make a bloody mary out of the marinade, but all I have on hand is chocolate vodka. I mean, I’m adventurous, but ewwww!!
Hope everyone’s Thanksgiving goes well! I know I’m thankful for the Dope and all it’s dopes
what happened JanCo?
I was able to make a pretty ok spead for Thanksgiving.
Here is the table all set, you can see the Cornish Game Hens, mashed potatoes(my husband said the best he has ever had), stuffing, green bean casserole, and corn first cooked on the cob then cut off the cob and reheated by sauteing with butter and pepper in a pan
Here are my little munchkins before we ate. They helped me mash the potatoes and mix the green bean casserole
Here are the chicken legs I made, which we didn’t eat any of, except my daughter who has two legs of the game hens and another of the extra legs. Girl loves her chicken. Thank goodness for left overs.
Now I need a nap, LOL.
Thanksgivings to all!!
