Happy blurfday and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHINY CAT!
Not that much going on today, just sittin’ around hoping my check wings it’s way here ASAP. Got my fingers crossed it’ll escape the holiday slow down cause I have designs on it.
Thanksgiving frightens me because I’m not cooking and my roomies are! I don’t have a lot of confidence in their turkifying based on their everyday cooking. Last night it was hot dog chowder. Just… no…no I didn’t have to eat it because we generally cook for ourselves but Thanksgiving is going to be family style and my taste buds tremble. I wouldn’t discount oddities such as pb&j stuffing or rosemary jello casserole. Srsly-- one roomie uses toxic amounts of rosemary. Oh well, it’s just one meal and a reminder why I need to find my own little place.
I habs a cough and sore throat. Use hand sanitizer after reading this post. Meanwhile Imma brew my fifty bajillionth cup of echinacea tea of the day.
Our charity event was a surprising success. The surprise is just that it was the first such event done here, and we probably spent alf our time telling people about what RESCU is and does.
Dryer issue turned out to be a couple of burned wires. Cost about $150 to fix, but now I have a functional dryer again, so yay!
I’m knitting and watching TV and trying to decide how late to stay up. I had my alarm set, but I changed my mind - I’ll get up when I get up. Breakfast runs till 10 - I’m sure I’ll be up long before then.
I forgot one essential ingredient of Thanksgiving - Green Stuff [sup]TM[/sup] - it’s my MIL’s recipe for pistachio “salad” - pistachio instant pudding, pineapple, cool whip, and mini marshmallows. Yep, that’s one healthy green salad!
Why are heater/air conditioner units in hotel rooms so loud?? I’ve got the fan on low and it sounds like a jet idling in here. Stoopit heater.
It’s so you’ll turn it off when you go to bed, rather than leaving it on all night.

As it turns out, even small houses have lots and lots of exterior detail.
Bobbio, I would like to second this motion.
Have only skimmed this thread, so here are some extra hugs.
Happy birthday, ShinyCat!
Not sure yet on the menu for Thursday, but it will include turkey and my sweet potato casserole (with orange juice and a pecan topping). I think there’s a Thanksgiving tag on the blog. If your dressing doesn’t have that tag, swampy, I’ll add it.
Hugs.

Swampy, The correct word is “Inflate”. Balloons are inflated, they are not “blown up”, especially this week!
Oh shit. ::runs off to clean house::
Jesus H. Christ!
Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night at the church house. Steak, sallit, asparagus, baked sweet N.O.T. and bizkits. Da bear has a happy tummy!
I agree we need a Tardis for TurkeyDay. Just think of all the nummy transportin’!
And on that note, it’s beddy bye time.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Test complete, part 1. Part 2 tomorrow. Blergh, blarf, blech
For Thanksgiving I plan on roasting a small turkey, making mashed potatoes form scratch, stuffing from a mix, getting those frozen Parker house style rolls we all love so much, obligatory green bean casserole, and maybe getting a pumpkin pie for dessert. Since there are only 4 of us, two of them being 5, I don’t think I need to make a lot since it won’t all be eaten in one day. And since I don’t usually cook unless it’s the weekend, it will be a treat no matter what I make, LOL. I am not a very good housewife
Rosie, here’s a pic for you and doggio, I know, you’re just looking for some sorta cheesecake shot (still safe for work).
I third the TARDIS idea - We could “groundhog day” this Thanksgiving!
