Thanks guys.
Happy Birthday Shiny Cat
Must be nice to be 21 and legal finally :)
Jim
Happy birthday, ShinyCat! Eat that cake, eat ALL OF IT!! Do NOT share
Jynx, that is such sad news I haven’t lived in VB for a few years, but I still check news and last names in case it’s someone I used to know. (I don’t think it is, but Dominion was a big company; I hope it wasn’t)
Poor Jake, the ear of corn! I shall nosh on one of his friends tonight so he can have someone to pal around with in…um…corn heaven, I guess.
I’m posting with children!
On a nicer note, I forgot to add that we will be also serving caviar, pickled scrimp, champange and fondue as horses overies (hors d’oeuvres in Jynxster Dad speak)
LOL. You’re ten years off.
It blew Rick’s mind when I told him how old I was. He thought I was turning 22.
Tao, I can’t! Most of it is at my parents’ place! And between my sister and my dad, I expect it all to be gone before Thursday. If my dad didn’t have a piece with breakfast, I’ll be surprised.
You’re 11?!?!?
You knew it had to happen, right?
Happy Birthday!
Jynx how sad! Also hope your screw up is not as bad as you think (they rarely are) and that your other co-workers are all better soon.
Reckon my guests would be mad if’n I just went to Jynx’s place for TDay? What if I did the turkey, dressin’, gravy and sweet N.O.T. pie and left a key under the doormat so they can get in? I want shrimpies, caviar and champagne!
What does it mean, “scrimp”?
Oh, and I’m definitely heading to Spidey’s house, hopefully BEFORE everything gets sent up to some frat house; they won’t appreciate it like I will!
After I listed aaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll that fud youda tink that we have an army coming. There will be 4 of us, including me. So please come over to help us eat and drank of it and save me from my parental units!
Oh and HAPPY BURFDAY Shiny Sparkly Kitty a.ka. Silver Tyger!
ETA Scrimp = Shrimp
Ok! Mumpers we meet up at Jynx’s place on Thursday! If that does not send the parental units screamin’ into the streets then nuttin’ will.
Page 2 on a Monday? Holy cow people
Thanksgiving this year is at my Father-in-Law’s place in TX. There will be 10.5 of us with the 0.5 being a 2 1/2 year old who can actually eat his own weight in mashed potatos if you let him.
The menu involves:
- Deviled eggs and I am thinking of making crab puffs for appetisers plus veggies and dip and cheese ball thingy. I am only involved in the crab puffs.
- 2 deep fried smallish turkeys seasoned/injected with butter and cajun seasonings and butter
- Scalloped potatoes
- Dressing (family receipe)
- Gravy (family recipe)
- Mamaw’s Green beans (family recipe you only get if you are born into the family or once you are married into it) all I can tell you is it involves bacon and is NOT green bean casserole which is evil.
- Squash casserole
- Mashed potatoes (see toddler comment)
- Cranberry sauce - I am pretty sure canned and sliced
- Something called ‘Coke Salad’ which mr ems loves and is definitely not a salad
- Fresh dinner rolls
- Pecan pie
- Pumpkin or Sweet Potato pie
- Double chocolate bread pudding with a pecan streusal topping
I think thats it. Although looks like I forgot something.
There is hardly anyone at work here today. So it is nice and quiet and I am being semi-productive. So must get back to work so I can scoot out a little early.
A friend has agreed to cook Thanksgiving dinner for me, as I don’t have access to a kitchen. Fortunately, she has just abandoned the Fuhrman “Eat to Live” vegetarian diet and returned to the “Why is there meat in the ice cream?” Paleo diet, so there will be MEAT. Possibly in the wine, and I’m reasonably certain in the salad. Oh, and the main course. Meat, meat, meat.
Hi honeys!!! I’m in the Holiday Inn Express in Johnstown, done with my work for the day, and exhausted. As I expected, the aircraft isn’t here - supposedly it will arrive tomorrow. It durn well better!! But I did meet with my buddy Kathy and we talked about other stuff coming my way and things I intend to do regarding all engineering drawings in the company. There should be a buttload of work awaiting me when I get back, so yay!
There’s a KFC next to the hotel - I’m thinking chickie pot pie for supper. I don’t much like dining out alone, so I’ll just walk over there and get my food to go. Since I’m a Priority Club member, I got 2 bottles of water and 2 baggies of snacks - woohoo! Plus the free internet, and exclusive control of the remote - double woohoo!!
As to the OP - my mom is hosting and last count was 16 for dinner. I don’t know what all the sides will be, but I did specifically request baked sweet N.O.T. - I don’t like the burnt hockey pucks that my sister favors. I do know she’s making swampy’s favoritest veggie in the whole universe ( ) but the rest will be a surprise.
I’m taking 2 punkin pies and one custard pie, along with cool whip and the canned whipped cream. I was going to make a cake, too, but others are bringing desserts, so cake would be too much. Instead, I may bake a cake and take it into work some day, just because I’m nice, dammit!
My trip here was a royal pain!! Accident on the Beltway delayed me by at least an hour - it was almost noon before I got to the office - slightly over 5 hours of driving - ugh. But what I have to do tomorrow shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours, so once I make my sketches, take my measurements, and take a bunch of photos, I’ll be outta here. With luck, I’ll miss the Tuesday rush hour on the Beltway… yeah, right…
Well, late breakfast and no lunch - I think I’ll mosey over to the Colonel’s now…
Happy what’s left of Monday!
About to head over to the church house to get stuff started.
Glad you made it safe MOOOOOOM! How nice of your mom to make fresh creamed corn just for me!
BooFae reckon we’ll have time to make it to mmmmmm’s place as well?
Hi guys. It could be nearing the end of the world. I got my hair cut short and told my mom about it and sent her a picture and she said “nice.” Normally I am subject to much scrutiny for this sort of thing.
well, show us the picture.

My foodie friend who’s cooking T-day just went shopping…
I said we need to get her a bicycle so that, when she buys a backpack full of meat and has to haul it back up the hill, she will be… punished.
