Actually, I have a buttload of stuff to do at da cave for tomorrow’s feast. I decided to come to irk to procrastinate.
I am at work and really don’t want to be here. I will also be at work Friday.
I worked late last night and probably will again today and Friday. Tomorrow I have to leave my house early and go help my mother-in-law cook Thanksgiving dinner.
Sometime this weekend I have to make it to the mall because I need some slacks and shoes, damn it. Monday morning I fly out early to the wilds of North Little Rock, Arkansas. In checking the extended weather forecast there, I see I am bringing some Pacific Northwest rain with me.
I suppose I need to dig into work. So much to do, not enough time and certainly not enough staff. I’m tired of being four to six people on a daily basis.
Okay, I’m up. I woke at 6:00 and tried real hard to go back to sleep, but my head kept going through the list of everything I need to get done today. Baking and prepping the casseroles, salads and cranberries, making dough for the rolls, mopping, dusting, wiping the walls and washing the windows, and making sure I have clean linens and towels because daughter #1 and family will be spending Thursday night with us.
It’s 7:30, I need to get daughter #3 up so we can get started.
Be safe, all of you who are/will be traveling.
Ah, you’re cooking a rump roast.
I’m at wirk too as I have to give a big presentation Tuesday. After that though there’s 16 vacations daze left to squeeze in so only my fingerprints and essence of tall ship cologne will be hanging around.
Okay, Crazy Distracted Driver season has officially arrived. People whose brains are consumed with travel and shopping particulars are operating muli-ton vehicles with reckless abandon… so be forewarned! Double caution rules.
Hugs for the sickies!
One of my upstairs neighbors is sick. I can hear him coughing most nights. Poor guy.
I’m frustrated because writing is being really difficult lately. I miss when it’d just flow out. I’m hoping my muse comes back this weekend. I’m considering pulling an all-nighter one night; I’ve had some success writing that way, but it has to be flowing to start.
My boyfriend and his primary girlfriend are moving into their new place this weekend. Their fridge is supposed to get delivered today, which was the last step before they could really move stuff. So one day will be spent moving boxes for them.
Well, I need to burn DVDs of stuff I promised to give my sister and try to write.
OYKW is gone for the weekend so no rump roast for me.
I’m back, and rested at last! I left Johnstown about 4 yesterday afternoon and got caught in some gawd-awful traffic as I270 merged into the inner loop of the Washington Beltway on the northwest side of town - it was a combination of the merge and and an accident about a mile after the merge. ugh. But once I got past where I95 came into the beltway, it was clear going. But I still didn’t get home till after 8:30.
So why did I sit up till 11 knitting??? :smack: But I slept thru the night mostly, and I feel almost human now. Three punkin pies are done and cooling, and a custard pie is in the oven right now. Once that’s done, I’m done! I will run a load of the knitting I did for Mom’s AARP group - just a rinse to get critter hairs out of the scarves and afghans and hats.
oooooooo - is that anything like Old Spice? I lurves me some Old Spice. yeah, I know, it’s old timey and stuff, but the smell is very comforting to me.
**kopek **- I got your PM, but from about noon yesterday till I got home, I was going at ninety gazillion miles an hour without a chance to breathe. I didn’t even get lunch till I stopped at Burger Whopper about 4, just before I headed out of J-town. On the other hand, I was done early on Monday - we could have met for dinner. Bummer.
**Apes **- congrats on finishing your exams. Here’s hoping good news follows soon!
Lessee, what else? Um, nothing really. Just enjoying a day at home. We’ll be heading up to my mom’s early tomorrow, and dinner there is around 1:30. Chores on the schedule for Firday and the weekend, but in the meantime, it’s chill time!
Happy Wednesday!
Well, it’s a creative, alternative Thanksgiving, this year. When you don’t have much you make do and sometimes it turns out pretty interestingly.

The Lamplighter in Delmont. Trust me. Next time around.
The directors of the firm hired to continue the credits after the other people had been sacked, wish it to be known that they have just been sacked.
The credits have been completed in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.

FADE OUT:
Moose and Llama, the alternative to Turkey!
Chikin pot pie for N.O.L. plus cookies. Da bear has a happy tummy.
Pie 3 of 4 in the oven. Mac and cheese plotted to happen after the gelfling goes to bed tonight.
Husband is getting the two-day fever she had over the weekend. He swears we can still make the 3-hour drive to spend all weekend with his family, crammed in a tiny house, with the still-snotty baby. Me, I’m going to buy an unfrozen turkey breast to have just in case we’re ALL sick tomorrow morning.
Sat sounds like a good plan. I’d be all up for callin’ the ‘tives and sayin’ “we’re sick [sub]of you[/sub] so we’re stayin’ home.”
If I hop over tomorrow, will any of you feed me?
Pies are done and cooling. I’m done with my chores for the day. Yay!! I think I’ll knit!
Sure BooFae is comin’ for N.O.L. and then we’re makin’ the rounds to other Mumpers places. I think she’s bringin’ a Tardis.
Up and caffeinated. Here’s wishing dry noses and safe travels to those who have to travel, especially when sick! Washer/Dryer, Fridge and Couch are going into storage Friday morn, so I’ve gotta use 'em all while they’re still here. Between the sorting and packing of clothing, a lot of stuff has been in piles on teh floor, and for some reason Mouse has the idea that those are indoor pee spots. :smack::smack: He gets outside all day long, and when I’m here the door’s open all the time, but no…we’ll be outside for a half hour, and then he’ll come in and I’ll find he’s peed on a shirt anyway, gah.
So lots more laundry today, whee!
Half of me wants to and half of me thinks it would be a shame to miss Thanksgiving. So confusing to weigh the joy of much food and family against the over-heated, under-slept, headachey, constipated mess that the holiday travels make of us.
Happily we get to stay home for Christmas.
My sister was bitten by a møøse once!
No realli! She was karving her initials on the moose with the sharpened end of an interspace toothbrush given to her by Svenge - her brother-in-law-an Oslo-dentist and star of many Norwegian movies: “The Hot Hands of an Oslo-Dentist”, “Fillings of Passion”, “The Huge Motars of Horst Nordfink”…
