Turkey Trots To Water- A Holiday MMP

Howdy all. Been sitting watching a Mass Murderer Marathon (Criminal Minds–just what you need on a Firday with family). Did take a nice walk outside, it’s in the low 50’s F and N.O.S. outside. Just finished some turkey for lunch (and presumably for dinner). Will get out some tomorrow to go browsing and shopping.

Since I don’t drink coffee and only sweet tea, I have no comment on Keurigs or teabags.

shoe, hang in there, Firday after T’giving can be the laziest day of the year for Mumpers and others.

nettie, hope you get feeling better.

boo fae, hope your Firday problem is fixed so you can enjoy the weekend.

All y’all take care.

I am going to have to brave the Black Friday battlefield. My phone is possessed and does weird things, such as the time it called a friend of mine when it was sitting on a desk 3 feet away from me. Luckily, I heard her voice. Once it called my sister at midnight her time. It does other weird stuff, too. Verizon tech was stymied. I’m headed to Seattle on Monday for medical stuff and don’t want to risk what happened last time, where my phone played dead even though it had plenty of power.

I also have to pick up an Rx. So I shall gird my loins, and the rest of me, too, because much as I love my loins, I’m fond of my ears and elbows, too. Luckily, I had Advanced Combat Training as a kid when Mom took us to sidewalk sales full of aggressive bargain hunters.

Mumper tea lovers, I salute you. I love tea, but black tea gives me migraines. Green tea doesn’t, but I’m not as fond of it. So herbal tea for ol’ woe-is-me.

Moooom, hope your travels are safe, swift, and smooth.

MetalMouse, stay away from sharp knives. Heck, stay away from family members. Watch some The Waltons reruns until you’re no longer a danger to society. Hope you’re having a good time. When do you head home?

shoe, best of luck out there, soldier, and I’ll see you on the beach*.

nettie, hope you’re feeling better.

*I have clearly watched Saving Private Ryan too many times.

Well, having accomplished approximately nothing, I turn my thoughts to dinner.

WHAT DO I WANT TO EAT?

After the beige-and-white-foodarama of the last few days, I need a change. Maybe fish?

HOME!!! HUZZAH!!!

We got on the road by 4:30 and arrived home just a bit after 5. swampy’s fog covered most of the Jawja segment of I-95, then a toad-soaking downpour hit as we approached SC, but it didn’t last long. For the most part, traffic was light and well-behaved, tho there were a few jerkwads who deserved to be flogged.

Higgs did well and we’re all glad to be home. Shortly, I shall change out of the jeans and into comfy sweats for evening chillage. And tomorrow we go back to eating responsibly. I’m afraid to step on the scale.

Also tomorrow, I hope to get most, if not all, of the leaves mulch/vac/dumped before the rain that’s due on Moanday. We shall see. What we won’t see is Roxy till we get tested on Moanday - not sure if it’s the quick test or the 3-day test. But we can’t take chances.

We stopped at Wawa on the way out of Ocala to get a soda and a breakfast sammich, and there was a woman there in scrubs, sans mask! :open_mouth: So, yeah, very glad to have left the Nation’s Penis in our rearview mirror.

There’s no place like home…

Howdy Y’all! We actually went out for a while this mornin’. Brave us! ‘Tweren’t bad at :open_mouth: Wally*World :open_mouth: actually. We bought two presents for the givin’ tree at church. A doll for a five year old girl, and a firetruck for a six year old boy. We came back to da cave and chillage ensued. We et leftovers a while ago and chillage has resumed.

Boo congrats on the soon to be new COTU!

MOOOOOOM glad y’all are home safe and sound.

MetalMouse sounds like a good visit so far.

shoe you done good with the stuff for the food pantry.

nettie feel better soonest.

nellie hope you got your phone issue resolved.

So far our Keurig has been really terrific. If and when it does die, we shall consider a cheaper option. I use it the most, as I must needs have coffee every mornin’, whilst OYKW does maybe twice a week. I can’t stand myself until I have had at least three cups.

Today was a nice day for chopping wood… which I didn’t.

Birdy bones are simmering down. I decided on a bit of seared tuna for dinner - good antidote to all this beigey-white food.

I was all set to call my frienemy (former BFF) since she seemed chatty by text, but she’s busy on a Friday evening, like a normal human, and wants to talk tomorrow. But I work Saturdays, and Sundays, so by the time I get home, I’m not usually all that chatty anymore. Also, like normal humans, yes?

So I dunno. We may “miss” each other, yet again.

We’ll see, my little frienemy. We shall see.

I may be starved for human contact anyway, depends how the shift goes.

Meanwhile, I guess - since I’m off the hook for phone calls this evening - it’s time to eat this here tuna & chill with some T.V.
Maybe even with the company of a cat, if one is so inclined.

ETA tuna is usually a good bribe.

Boo waving :wave:t3::wave:t3: “I’ll be here, I’ll be here”.

Of course we had a big surger of bags and boxes, and of course the Powers that Be left our table short handed until we we ankle deep in boxes. So of course I volunteered for the midnight shift, making it a 12 hour day.
I make my coffee with Mr. Coffee, which works well for making 2 pots a day, every day for 7 years.

I missed seeing my favorite Scottish band at a music festival this year.

That’s my winter afternoon tea.

You know this how? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: :honeybee:

Feel better, Nettie!

Back from my desert camping trip. Was much needed. After 37 years of doing it, we’ve got prepping Thanksgiving dinner in the field down to an art. We do have to make sacrifices, so there were only 2 different wines with dinner! 3 different pies, though. For 4 people. Everybody got home safe and has gorged on leftovers.

In a general sense, which desert? Tent or RV? Campfire cooking? Day hiking or fishing? I’m intrigued. Sounds lovely, especially to be able to be outdoors with friends with only negligible.

Birdy broth is cooling on the back steps. I figured steel bowls on concrete in 40 F should cool quickly, but in case the neighborhood possums get curious, I’ve opened my windows and am “blasting” this into the night sky:

It was foggy here this morning too swampy

The tea looks good boofae. I tend to keep some Twining’s English Breakfast and some Earl Grey on hand in loose leaf. There’s always a handful of Twining’s Irish Breakfast in my desk drawer at irk in case I need a late afternoon caffeine buzz. Like herald, it’s my favorite.

metal mouse, Criminal Minds is one of my favorite series.

I hope that you’re feeling better soon nettie.

Glad that you had an uneventful trip home Moooooooom.

I’ve never had a desire for a Keurig for home use. although I keep a reusable K-cup at irk and take freshly ground coffee with me. I have a four cup (like TP math, it’s a confusing thing that comes out to 2-2.5 cups in reality) Hamilton Beach drip pot, a 32 oz. French Press for weekends, a four cup stove top espresso pot (mostly for making iced coffee in the summer) and a 12 cup (again, it lies) old school stove top percolator for outdoor use. No worries about going uncaffeinated. :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually left irk at one today. It was the first time in a couple of weeks that I left before dark. I got what little grocery shopping out of the way so’s that I can be slothful this weekend. While I’m not quite down to the last 9 pack from the last bale of TP, I thought that I’d restock before everyone goes into hoarding mode again. I passed it up at Aldi, since the last bale was from there and it’s like taking 24 grit sandpaper to your nether regions :open_mouth: and opted for Kroger, where I could get some Charmin. Kroger had nothing bigger than a 9 pack and a limit of 2 on them. :open mouth: :open mouth: I bought 2 and will again next week. I also stocked up on tissues, since I’m down to one cube on deck.

I got home in time to take Nelson for his second dog park trip today (his sitter takes him in the morning). His buddies Watson and Jersey were there. He hadn’t seen either of them for a while and they were ecstatic. Jack, the chiweenie puppy was there too. He was doing the puppy thing and trying to establish dominance. Nelson just gave him a growl, which emboldened Watson (everybody’s favorite humpee) to stand up for himself. They all ran around and had fun. We have a playdate tomorrow at three.

I nuked some of the zucchini casserole and a couple of chicken tenders that I picked up grocery shopping for supper and had a two pack of cinnamon snap cookies for dessert. I found out that Nelson likes those when I dropped a half cookie on the floor. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Lower Mojave, between Route 66 and I-40. East of Amboy and west of Goffs. Tents, but not just tents. Tents. 2 8x8 and 1 10x10 Cabelas domes. For 4 people. 6 ice chests. There is a campfire, but we cook on propane stoves. Thanksgiving dinner was turkey (cooked in the camp fire pit on coals), dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, hot pea salad and, sadly, only 2 different wines. For entertainment we walk with the dogs, plink with the .22s, and just sit around and read and talk and drink.

After 37 years of doing this trip, we kinda have it down.

I have the new phone. It’s nice. It’s the extras that break you. I’m a klutz, so I got the case and the screen protector. Worth it, though. The tech kept pulling her n95-type mask away from her face when she talked, so I tried to stay on the other side of plexiglass when possible. The mall was busy but not packed. The pharmacy had no other customers. So I’m safe, I think.

swampy, WE can sure stand you before that third cup. In fact, you’re downright loveable.

Mooooom, yay! You’re home! May the scale be kind to you tomorrow.

Red, I sure get a kick out of Nelson’s dog park adventures.

Harold (I think that’s your Mumper name.), no desert dessert?

Wowza, you sure do! Every iota of it sounds like great fun. Campfire coal turkey? Sign me up.

My long lost sister and I were planning an early spring camping trip together. State park camper cabins but outdoor cooking in the Upper Midwest just when the virus shut everything down. We would have read and knit and walked and talked and cooked Dutch oven biscuits and drunk campfire coffee all the day long. Now we’re cautiously hoping to pull something off in spring 2021. Even had some solar phone chargers ready and packed.

Note to all: Never share a room with a 210lb English Mastiff with a gas problem.

That is all.

Maybe he thought YOU were gassy Metal Mouse. Ever thought of that? Huh?

No such thing as the five-second rule with a two-second dog.

One of our canine friends’ more useful skills is as a Roomba on paws.

My sinuses utterly despise me, my ribs ache from coughing (and the gunk being coughed up tastes horrible), and I think the only reason I didn’t fail the temperature check at the door at irk was that I’d spent several minutes outside in 30-something degree weather, so my face was probably artificially cooled. DH is completely on board with a sick day for tomorrow. Food is “scrounge as desired”. Lots of options lurking in the fridge/freezer/cupboards.

:rofl:thanks, I enjoyed those. I have a two second Siamese cat. They are known for dog-like characteristics.

I hope your cough gets better tout suite. The sore ribs gets old in about two minutes. Keep hydrating, take long steamy showers, it will help thin the gunk and move it up and out. Will be thinking of you and glad you have a day off tomorrow. Put your feet up and. Cuddle the canines.
