Turkey Trots To Water- A Holiday MMP

Holy shit, you’re not even kidding.

Tom is roastin’ away and smellin’ nummy! He’ll come out of the oven (not on his own cause this is not a zombie turkey) within the hour and the dressin’ will go in. Casserole substances will go into the upper oven in a little while. We are properly attired and await the arrival of guests. Feels like turkey day up in here!

The Macy parade is on the TV here. I never liked televised parades, especially the lip-sync “singing.” I sat with everyone for a while but I couldn’t take any more.

In a bit, I need to pull the turkey out to come to roomish temp before heating it for dinner. MIL has green beans ready to be cooked to mush, and fart blossoms with onions and mushrooms. She built her dressing this morning and I expect that even after 37 years, she’ll be amazed that I don’t like dressing. (Mushy bread - ick.) There’s going to be waaaaaay too much food for 5 people.

Gee, that sounds crabby. Probably because I feel crabby. So ready to head home…

On the plus side, there’s cheesecake!!!

I buy their shells for my shellies, Neolamprologus multifasciatus. Apparently people stuff the canned snails into the shells and cook them.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, which feels weird. I got the pork loin brining, and I’m sipping coffee. I even got “Princess Pretty Paws” to go out, even though it’s damp out , and the MST3K maathon on YouTube.

Not that, nor the stainless steel monolith in Utah.

Thel, we want to be with you, even if it’s only virtually. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Happy T-Day (Thanksgiving for fellow Americans, Thors for the rest of the planet). My brother is sleeping already, SIL is working in kitchen, niece is still in her bedroom, and nephews are also on mobile devices. Family in America…

Still, the cookies are delicious and the Turkey smells good, and there is Apple pie to look forward to. So worth it. And can pick up 3 months of OM braunsweiger while here, which will save me several trips.

Thel, like others here, I live alone, but if you don’t let that determine who you are or what you want to do in life. Be well.

All y’all take care.

{{{butters}}} Things will start to come together with time. Meanwhile, be good to yourself.

Still in my jammies. Fixing to put some pumpkin pie filling in the oven (I make it with stevia and don’t bother with the crust for just me). Once the sweet taters and zucchini casserole go into the oven, I’ll pull out the new chair I bought for the studio and begin assembly. The green beans will be snapped and put on with some bacon and the ham steak fried up for a T-Day dinner around 3.

Happy turkey to all!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

OMFG. I was sure this was going to turn out to be the Onion or Babylon Bee. That even beats “zombie tropical storm” for “weirdness that could only happen in 2020”.

Sloth day planned, no major menu. We may just graze as desired. Both of us are a bit ill (probably just the annual kennel cough season at Hades Annex and/or DH picking up a cold at his irk).

Called my mother for Thanksgiving. Such a warm, lovely human. (Not!)

Went drivin’ around a bit, just to get some fresh air and a change of scenery. The Meijer parking lot was PACKED with folks who forgot something last minute, I guess.

My hostess is making something called “Polish roses.” I am Polish, and have never heard of them in my life. Any Mumpers familiar?
Something to do with beef rolled around a green onion. (I like cow! I like onion!)

I hear yah! Safe travels and try to not peel out of the driveway in the new caddie in the morning. My advice? Skip the green beans.

None in the house. Maybe tomorrow or the next day I will buy one. You have a piece for me.

Me too, except it is maple cream flavored coffee. Shhhh, don’t tell @flyboy, he’d be horrified-coffee sacrilege.

Like shoe, I echo your words.

Had you not written this, I wouldn’t have remembered a few minutes later that I DO HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THAT! My grandgirl Hattie lights up like that when she sees me, she squeals “Grandma!”, runs to the door and hugs my legs, with big silly plans for our day. So thank you for putting that at the front of my mind today.

All of you, the first thing I did today was run to the MMP door, squeal “Mumpers!!” And hug all your legs with delight to be ‘with’ you this morning. Now let’s go be silly together all day!

Actually, I couldn’t resist reading that last night when it popped up on my news feed. Ended up being clickbait-they shoulda known better. Bury ‘em fast, bury ‘em deep. The fashionistas around the world who have to wait for their new mink coats are going to have to do it without my sympathy. My empathy is all with the minks. I have all I can do to be ok with shearing sheep so I can have warm wooly sweaters and earmuffs.

Plus nettie~~ :turkey: :turkey: :pie::pie:, big hugs and a ‘glad to see you’ gleam in my eyes to all.

Good morning and happy T-Day to all!

Mrs W and I have decided that our Thanksgiving feast shall be in two parts: a huge takeout breakfast from IHOP, and a dinner of Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza. Lou’s is one of the things we miss most about Chicago. We get a few ‘zas shipped out a couple times a year and keep them in the freezer for special occasions. Good stuff!

SIL said she’d drop off some Turkey leftovers in the morning, so we’ll have some more traditional Thanksgiving food tomorrow. I do like that meal, but the holiday is about more than food, and since the non-food part isn’t happening this year, seems pointless to go through all that hassle.

Zoom call with the NC and Chicago family scheduled for noon, so that should be fun.

Lots of action on the MMP since I was here last. I read most and retained some. Sounds like there are very diverse holiday plans. Everyone enjoy whatever you choose to do. Hugs to them that need ‘em.

I told Mrs. L.A. I’m going to run the dishwasher and then start cooking. ‘Just planning.’

That reminded me of the adage, ‘If you fail to plan, plan to fail.’

Hm… If I fail to plan, then I plan to fail. But if I have a plan to fail, then I have a plan. And if I have a plan, then I can’t plan to fail.

BBBoo I am sure flyboy would forgive you the coffee sacrilege in honour of the occasion  I must admit when I was a regular on your shores (holidays and lived there for a bit), I was quite partial to some flavoured coffee. Mostly it’s because I don’t like “plain” coffee that much, and I had to drink something on the rare and unmentionable occasions when I ran out of proper tea bags and had to wait for emergencies supplies to come from my mum

Shared some leftover quackity-quack with the kitties. Not a lot (it’s so fatty, and feline livers and pancreasasas are so delicate) but enough to put a greasy smile on both their faces.

There’s something so very satisfying about picking at a carcass. Although I mostly just inhaled the rest of the N.O.T.s that had soaked up all that ducky goodness.

Wanna stop by my “gratitude/count your blessings” thread?

Cuz the bastard is sinking like a stone, which is deeeeepressing.

Speaking of, @scareyfaerie, which ‘proper’ teas do you favor? I used to be able to get loose leaf Typhoo, which I loved but that store burned down and decided to not rebuild. When I lived in Boston there was much more a tea culture and I miss The Steaming Kettle where you could walk in and ask for a ‘large regular’ and it was lovely tea, with just right milk and sugar. Sigh…

After a few aborted attempts, we had a group chat with two of my wife’s nieces. I’ll be attempting the same thing with my kids in about an hour. I can’t tell if I’m doing something wrong with Messenger, or if it’s just a fucked up app in general. Seems like if they’re on their phones and we’re on the iMac, we can’t hear them. We had to change to our phone, which is less than optimal, picture-wise.

I just shoved the bird in the oven after stuffing it, so we’re looking at dinner around two-ish. I think perhaps 16 pounds may be overkill for the two of us.

Happy Turkey-Thursday-Zombie-Sheep-Apocalypse Day! Just popping in for a quick minute, as my hair is wet and I’m not fully clothed. I’m running around getting ready for a Zoom session like company is coming. Quick! Shove that stuff in a closet! I’ve gotten little done besides texting responses to kind people I’m blessed to have in my life. I figure that’s the most important thing, though, right?

Thel, MY eyes light up when you enter the virtual room! Always so happy to see you here! Living alone, I find that sometimes the texting and posting feels like the Hanoi Hilton during the Vietnam War, when McCain and the other POW’s tapped on the walls and pipes to communicate. I can walk out of here, though, and I know that while I’ll still be constrained by my vision issues, I’ll be able to see friends and loved ones from time to time.

Boo, hope you get to Zoom with Harriet today!

Argh! Gotta go dry this hair, and I suppose the kids would appreciate it if at least my top half were fully clothed.

: pulls out swampy’s fainting couch, falls down :

Indeed it is. Let’s all keep it up.

Thank you. Hattie just asked her mom to FaceTime me and we had an up close chat, with their fireplace roaring cosily in the background. My daughter Emily is reclining on the couch near the fireplace, resting because she is struggling with morning, noon and night sickness because she is PREGNANT WITH MY NEXT GRANDBABY. :grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:That’s over-the-moon good news I can share with y’all today. Enjoy it with me.

I don’t begrudge anyone their flavoured coffee. I just like it strong, black, and bitter.
