TV-evangelist Benny Hinn - a false prophet

Thanks. I’ve heard the quote but never seen the movie.

No no no! He’s talking about that Japanese steakhouse chain, Benny Hinn. Pay attention willya?

D’oh! Steakhouse, not Ginsu knives. Blew my own joke.

what I fail is to understand is why so many people continues to follow this charlatan when his prophecies failed so miserable
Wasn’t false prophets stoned back in the old testament ?

It would explain a lot, wouldn’t it?

For one thing, Benny Hinn continually says “Touch not God’s anointed,” (Psalm 105:15), insisting that this means that Yahweh’s anointed should never be criticized. He then declares “I am God’s anointed!” Unfortunately, many of his followers are taken in by his theatrics and never stop to question whether Benny Hinn was truly selected by God.

Moreover, Hinn is blatantly abusing the Scriptural passage in question, since it most certainly does not mean that God’s chosen leaders should be immune to criticism.

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

I think he was talking about Rio, by Duran Duran.

The question is perhaps if christians in the charismatic movement are more stupid than other christians

A lot of these tv-pastors have charismatic power like no curch leaders is close to having

Thank you kindly for that link. I want to keep that on hand for future discussions with a couple of evangelical Christian friends I have.

One of the greatest gifts I got out of my Catholic education (gotta love those rebel Jesuits!) was that faith was pretty meaningless if you weren’t willing to ask questions. Come to your own conclusions about religion because you’ve thought about it and that’s what makes sense to you, not because someone says that they are right and they know better than you.

The fact that his audience applauded when he told them God would destroy homosexuals with fire is probably a decent indication of where Benny Hinn fans fall on the IQ spectrum.

When we visit my husband’s family in the Orlando area we often pass by the TBN compound. I usually heave a beer bottle or two at the fence as we drive by. :stuck_out_tongue:

In other news, the Pope shit in my funny hat.

And their hidden university on Dantooine.

Thankfully, most evangelical Christians do not accept Benny Hinn’s teachings. In fact, the link in question is to a distinctly evangelical site.

Besides, I think it would be a huge stretch to refer to Benny’s followers as “evangelicals” in any strict sense, since Mr. Hinn preaches another gospel (i.e. another evangel) altogether.

Flaming, indeed.
could not resist

Hinn is in my mind a part of the charismatic movement, while evangelical christians are a boader consept.

Charles Schultz was a great commentator on the human condition. There really are plenty of people out there who will keep trusting no matter how many times the ball is taken away.

Feh. Benny Hinn’s easy to figure out. Just another opportunist preying on the weak-minded. What’s shaken me is Greenback never having seen The Wizard of Oz and an SD member with the nom de forum Asimovian who’s religious
