TV-evangelist Benny Hinn - a false prophet

I thought it was “Don’t talk back?”

And Hinn’s message is a travesty of Christianity that is embraced by *none *of mainstream Christianity and no biblical basis.

Nope. He may be charismatic, but he is by no means evangelical. In fact, mainstream and conservative evangelicals reject and openly denounce his teachings.

Rather quietly so, but any acknowledgement of a deity would have probably been enough to send poor Isaac reeling, may G–er, may Mother Nature rest his soul.

That’s why I mentioned it was a bit obscure. Not everyone will get it.

Well, Wildfire, I think it’s safe to say that this thread of yours has convinced each and every last Hinn-following board member to start thinking for themselves. Bravo! You see something that needs to be taken care of, and you go to work.

“False prophet” is redundant.

A few years ago, Hinn managed to get himself ordained in the Assemblies of God.
Soon after, Hinn & the Assemblies quietly parted ways… I’m thinking & hoping it was because the AoG officials has a :smack: moment.

As a Charismatic C’tian, I’ve seen & made lots of criticisms about Hinn. Alas, I’ve also seen a lot of blind adulation for him. Trouble is- there are people who honestly & sincerely claim to have been helped by his ministry. Maybe it’s delusional, maybe it’s just that God has pity on the poor sheep & heals some of them. Hinn does preach accepting JC as Lord & Savior, which is the core of the C’tian Faith- alas, he compounds a bunch of other junk on top of it. So people who come to Christ through him feel a sense of loyalty to him.

RE the OP- I was fortunate enough to have heard that prophecy for the 90s tape when it came out, but I don’t think it was that widely circulated.

Hilarious. Thank you. I’ve actually made this mistake when I didn’t squint hard enough at the DirecTV guide.

While Benny Hinn does speak about “accepting Jesus as one’s savior,” he does not accurately present what this means. In other words, he throws the right terms about, but strips them of their meaning. In his teachings, accepting Jesus means following a path to riches and prosperity, which is not at all what the Christian gospel is about.

It is a strange aspect of human nature that I do not understand, but followers of odd beliefs often have their faith reinforced when the prophecies do not come true. When reality and their beliefs contradict each other, they modify how they see reality so that their beliefs do not need to change. Wacky.

As opposed to the, you know, real prophets.

Didn’t JC himself warn about guys like benny Hinn? “beware false prophets, who are clothed in sheep’s skins, but inwardly are ravening wolves”. Truer words were never written. Hinn is owrse that a hypocrite-he is a thief.

Well, you’ve gotta love the hair.

I remember back in the early 90’s, catching part of his show and he was going out into the audience and, with the power of the holy spirit, making people faint. Hundreds of them. I could tell he was gettting off on it both by the tone in voice and the huge boner in his pants. I wondered how he did it so I caught the entire show later. He had the audience standing for about two hours, holding their hands over their heads, singing hymns with long drawn out notes. No wonder they all passed when he popped them on the forehead.
But seriously, he has the greatest combover in the world, the Donald has nothing on him.
