One of my favorite memes in Lucifer is when the title character will ask somebody what their innermost desire is. He’ll smile and cajole them to tell him the truth, and they can’t resist. Usually, the deep dark secret isn’t all that bad. “I want to start a donut shop” or something equally as banal.
So what if Lucifer used the same power on other TV characters outside his show?
Monk
Lucifer: Tell me, detective Monk, what is your innermost desire? Don’t be shy, Adrian. Come on, tell me.
Monk: Er… would you mind stepping back? I have issues with… my comfort zone.
Lucifer: Very well, Adrian. Is this far enough? Now, tell me. What does Adrian Monk most desire, out of all your other longings and cravings?
Monk: Er… that packing crate six feet behind you has bubble wrap. I really want to pop every last bubble.
The Big Bang Theory
Lucifer: So tell me Sheldon, what is it you truly desire the most, hmmmm? You can tell me.
Sheldon: I’m so glad you asked. I need a larger version of the Hadron Collider, capable of condensing 10 dimensions to 6 (spatial) plus 4 (space and time) dimensions, 6 of which are invisible by the way, and measuring distances smaller than 10-33 cm, which is 1020 times smaller than a proton’s diameter.
Lucifer: Stop. Please stop.
