Lucifer, Season 2 (2016-2017)

I thought that I would start a thread for Season Two, which started Monday, September 19, 2016 with the episode "Everything’s Coming Up Lucifer ".

Any thoughts on the episode?

I enjoyed it (but then, I enjoy all of them–I’d watch Tom Ellis read a shopping list for an hour  )

Thought the whole Dan thing was wrapped up far too fast.

Loved the song at the end, though I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t realize it was Ellis singing until they showed him.

Curious about what’s up with “Mum.”

Dan being back caught me by surprise, as well. Now I guess he will be Chloe’s “errand boy”, what with his demotion.

Tom Ellis is a pretty good singer!

All in all a very good episode, still enjoying this show as something very different that most everything else on television.

Glad Maze is back. Disgruntled boyfriend didn’t look like he was just going to scare Lucifer.

So is Lucifer’s brother losing his heavenly powers or is it Chloe making him weak too? What’s the current theory on Chloe, angel with amnesia or something?

Does that song mean that Lucifer is a Cylon?

I liked it. The dialog and Tom Ellis’s delivery of it always makes the thing interesting.

I wasn’t too surprised when they implied where Maze had been. And the ending was a nice twist.

I watched episode 2 – “Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire” – last night, and enjoyed it immensely! Tricia Helfer is a great addition to the cast. And, from a quick perusal of the IMDB, she will be in quite a number of episodes in this season. It appears that her visit will be an extended one. Makes me wonder if they will ever show Lucifer’s “dear old dad”…

I enjoyed it too! I agree that “Mum” is a good addition, and I’m looking forward to seeing more interactions between her and Lucifer (and her an Amenadiel). I hope they don’t get too chummy too fast, though–I preferred the adversarial relationship.

I also enjoyed the scene where Amenadiel apologized to Dr. Martin. It may take him a while to truly redeem himself, though…

What’s with Amanadiel losing wing feathers? Is this supposed to be some sort of self punishment/stress induced damage?

I was wondering the same thing. My theory is that he’s losing the feathers because he’s been “sinning”; lying to the fellow shrink and sexing up Maze. Perhaps him losing the feathers is why he couldn’t respond to Lucifer’s calls.

I think he’s starting to lose his angelic powers. Remember in the last episode he tried to levitate something and dropped it?

Yeah, this is a fascinating development. I’m wondering if he will still retain his strength and resistance to injury. Lucifer still seemed pretty darn strong in that episode when the goons were attacking him. And Chloe must have been pretty close, because she showed up just a second later…

BRILLIANT! I didn’t even notice that.

Talking about vulnerability – Maze was KOed by that head-butt that Lucifer’s mom gave her, wasn’t she? And she had taken out multiple goons with ease in previous episodes! Is she experiencing a decline, as well?

I strongly suspect we can’t trust Mum. Not a word out of her mouth and not an action that she takes. There was that one mention of her running around and causing plagues and wars. I think she is not a Nice Person. She has already gotten Lucifer to agree to postpone (if not break) his bargain with dad.

I can’t decide whether he was ignoring Lucifer or unable to respond. I agree that he is being punished for his sins.

Agreed. I think he needs redemption. I just don’t think he understands, fully, what that is yet. Maze is part of it I believe.

I think Mum is more than she appears, even in a skin suit.

I noticed Mum noticing Chloe. That could be interesting.

I am glad someone got the reference. Tricia Helfer seems to be good addition to the cast.

Did you know Trish Helfer was coming?

Her name was in the title credits, so she was bound to show up sooner or later. But beyond that, “All Along the Watchtower” has been cemented in my mind as the Cylon song. That Number Six showed up immediately afterwards just cemented the deal.

After the last episode I’m starting to doubt the writing on this show. So Lucifer’s mother escapes from Hell and he, while suspicious of her motives, just lets her run around LA unattended in a hot female body? And then he’s surprised when she does weird things?

Now he sentences her to live the life of the lawyer whose body she inhabits? Why can’t she just say no? And afterwards why was she walking down some random dark alley and getting mugged by the most cliche mugger ever? Just to illustrate that she’s evil and/or is seeking out victims? If she’s evil, why is God’s wife evil?

The whole family dynamic seems very strange, but I guess we mere mortals can’t understand the relationships of divine beings.
