Just heard from my sis - they’re pretty much on a death watch with our friend. His brother arrived yesterday, and I expect all that’ll be left is to make funeral arrangements. Such a sad end for a very sweet, gentle man. He’ll be missed at Christmas, and at all our future gatherings - he was like an adopted uncle to our family.
Up early for the day and still missed the top of the page. Just generally trying to set things up so next week is much of nothing so I can kick back and relax.
{{{FCM}}}. Sad tidings.
spidey, I only steal from the best…
Leave in about 2 hours, so need to feed myself and pack for travel (hey, it’s not like it’s the last minute…yet).
Merry Christmas, All y’all.
Safe travels. MetalMouse! Today’s supposed to be one of the worst days for holiday travel, according to AAA - hope your trip is uneventful!
I’m down to my last drawing - we shall see how long I can drag it out. Looks like the holiday slump has set in here.

First of all, I hope everyone who has to travel does so safely this holiday. Family can wait if you need to slow down to drive safely. They’ll just be glad you got there in one piece.
I just have to get through today and then I’m off through Christmas. I’m spending today out in the shop checking my instructions. It’s nice to have a change of pace, and hopefully having something physical to do will help keep me from being all “but I want Christmas break to start NOOOWWW!” today.
Tomorrow I’m going to be part of a flash mob at my daughter’s school. We learned a dance and a bunch of teachers and parents are going to start dancing at the end of their holiday pep assembly. It should be hilarious.
Home again from irk, although the egg Inhad at 8:30 is still with me. I am working as needed today and tomorrow. Then off until January 2. I need to start shoveling this place out since my sis BIL and niece are coming here on Sunday for our Christmas. A little bit at a time is my motto. I put in a load of laundry then had to take a nap. Don’t think I’m gonna make it to the barn party tomorrow night.
**(((Moooom))) **
Home early from irk on account of I slipped and fell in a puddle on the way to the car… I was soaking wet, but figured I’d just suck it up and deal, but when i got there the boss looks at me and says "what happened to you?! " He offered to let me go home and change, but **PB **had to take my brother to irk, so he wouldn’t have been able to get me. Boss did let me clock in late on account of I went to the Ladies’ and tried to dry off there as best I could. 2 hours of sitting in cold wet britches + not too busy = OPS guy let me go home… God Bless 'im. I had a hot bath, put on some warm (DRY!) clothes… getting ready to make some hot cider… I feel hooman again!
{{{FCM and family}}} I’m sorry about your friend.
Irk has been irked, groceries ordered, clothes in washer.
Since neither of the vacuums are sucking too well, I am going to take them apart and wash the filters, see if that helps.
Home ahead of the front that is supposed to have up to 50-60 mph gusts. It is getting very close from looks of the radar plus it’s getting dark out.
I bought a turkey as we wanted more turkey. I wanted a very small one and they had a small one at the Pubic store but it was fresh never frozen which would be OK except I don’t want a turkey that has been sitting around for 10 days so frozen it is. The smallest frozen one I could get is 13+pounds.
I think once Christmas is over we shan’t want any turkey until next Thanksgiving.
I am about to force myself, force I say, to go decorate that Xmas tree.

Sorry about your friend, Mom.
Yesterday afternoon Wifey went over to a friends house and learned how to make tamales. She brought about 30 tamales home with her to be steamed, (about half chicken and half pork), but we couldn’t find what we thought was a steamer in the pantry and so we went to the store and bought one, and, since the tamales would have to be steamed for about an hour, we ate dinner at the pretty good Chinese place on the way.
Anyway, steaming did not happen last night, due to the time, so I steamed them today and had some for lunch. I am happy, and somewhat stuffed.
That’s the news. Happy Thorsday!
**Butters **- the unicorn outfit came today - GMTA! I almost bought her that one but opted for something else. Whew!
Rotissin’ a chickie for supper. Sides TBD.
I’ve decided to take Monday off. Because I can! So after tomorrow, I’ve got a 4-day weekend.
Vacuums have been cleaned. They were pretty bad.
Now I have to wait for the filters to dry before reassembling.
All the laundry is washed, hanging on racks in the kitchen.
Once the clothes are mostly dry I’ll put them in the dryer.
Almost time to go to irk.
Of course, now I am hungry but don’t have enough time to fix anything.
Maybe if I start the spam and beans my son will finish them. It’s not like it’s rocket science.
Have a good trip metal mouse!
Juliet, you’ve likely said as much before, but are you a process engineer? Anyway, I think it’s cool that the parents and teachers have combined efforts to [del]embarrass[/del] entertain the kids.

One more day! It will likely be a short day tomorrow. Even today, I got out an hour early. Then it’s four days to laze around. I’ll head up to my niece’s house Xmas eve, but no huge plans otherwise. I’m either going to make paella or shrimp and grits Saturday and will do up a ham and trimmings for Christmas day.
Supper was good, dishes are washing, kitchen is mostly tidy. Time for chillage.
But what were the sides?
Front is among us and it blowing and raining. I hope it rains all night.

Sounds like Sari has been bizzy. I am about to have some leftover pork shoulder and some Old Glory tm turnip greens with roots. Don’t laugh
Sides were cabbage-n-onions and fried sweet N.O.T.s.
And my sis just called - Jim died this evening. He’d left his body to research, so it’ll be a while till there’s a memorial. I’m glad he didn’t suffer very long. He was a dear man and he will be missed.
I’m off work for five days! Yay! After almost eighteen years I’ve come to dislike my workplace. I will start looking for something different in the new year. Even if that turns out ungood it will only be for two years, until I’m sixty six. Between my health, my finances and my job I’m ready to quit.
At least I have my dog and my cat.
Christ.
I offer my condolences, but of course they are worth nothing and not helpful to you.
What I ate for dinner is insignificant compared to your grief.
Prayers will ascend for all involved and my best hugs your way.
