Twas the Week Before Christmas and All Thru the MMP

**Midget **- sounds like you need a new roomie. I’m sure that’s easier said than done, tho. :frowning:

We went to Salsa’s for supper - I lurves their shrimp and rice!! Roxy is spending the night with her other grandmother, so it’s quiet here. Chillage shall ensue soon.

I’m sorry for the loss of your friend Moooooom. Jim sounds like a wonderful man.

I bugged out of irk around one today and am off until Wednesday. Yay! I shppped for groceries after and spent the big trip of the month, around $100, but $40 was meat and seafood that was more than what I usually spend. Sprouts had some lovely clams, so I decided on some of them to go with the shrimp for paella tomorrow. Christmas day, I’ll bake the ham. It is a 15 pound one, but ham never goes to waste. It will be part of the NYD black eyed peas, likely a quiche or two and some frozen for seasoning other things in the future.

I’m heading out to a bar that allows dogs this evening and taking Nelson. I figure if he has a meltdown, I’ll treat him like a toddler and take him home for time out. :stuck_out_tongue:

Historically it’s steak night at Chez Butters and hubby did get them but when I got home a half hour ago and unloaded/reloaded the dishwasher I told him I would just as soon save them for tomorrow. The baked taters will keep and get nuked to reheat. Sad when one is too tired to eat filet mignon. Not too tired to eat but too tired to participate in the ritual of cooking and cleaning.

I robbed the star off the irk tree since mine is too heavy. That bad boy shall make its way back to the jungle or to irk since the irk tree is much sturdier than the cheapo tree I have here at home. I also took my ornaments off the irk tree that belong to me. It was only two so the irk tree is still plenty decorated.

I desperately need these four days off then it’s Hell week. Shoot me now.

Winds continue to blow really hard. Almost tropical storm hard. Happy Weekend finally!

You know Midget when one is sick the well roomie should be sympathetic to you and helpful. Your roomie is not only a bitch but a sadistic one. Feel better soonest sweetie. If I were closer I would take care of you and make you some chicken soup not bitch at you.

Howdy Y’all! Been a quiet day here at da cave. I ventured out to Sam’s to feed twuck this mornin’. That I could do in sweatpants, sweatshirt, and sneaks since gas pumps are not generally impressed with attire. Other than that, I watched Netflix and achieved nappage. Chikin noodle soup and grilled cheese were consumed for sup. Comfort food on a cool, windy day.

You don’t have to eat it, just let it dissolve in your mouth. :dubious:

today was a wild ride ……………woke up to cousin having a diabetic episode which may or may not been self inflicted and there was much arguing between her and aunt ….
nephew went home for a bit he gets to stay over tonight since we wont see them again until Monday after he leaves …

have decided im sitting next xmas out after this one for various reasons ,
hope everyone feels better and condolences to all who needs them ……

Spent a couple of hours trying to commit a neatness in the chaos of the garage. It doesn’t look like I was even in there. :frowning: Then spent half an hour cleaning the shop vac filter. I may have another go at it in the next few days. Or not. I still haven’t managed to clear off the radial arm saw table. I want to use it soon. :dubious:

Also swept the upper part of the deck some. At least the fir cones are gone. The needles, not so much.

May try to make enchiladas out of the leftovers from tamale making that Wifey brought home. I was gonna just use 'em in soup, but she wanted enchiladas. Or at least that’s what she said she wanted before she said* “do whatever you want!”*, and climbed into her Huff and motored off.

I suppose I’d better make up my mind soon.

I’m sixty-three, almost sixty-four. thinking about job-hunting in the new year is depressing, but I’m not sure how to go about it. Used to be the want ads in the paper were the place to go, but now there are few work ads posted. I’ll try the hospitals and the grocery stores, surely someplace else out there needs a baker with my abilities.

FCM. I just now saw the posting about your loss. I am so sorry, I hope you will be okay over the holidays. Many years ago now I went to a funeral on Christmas Eve, an aunt, my father’s older sister. I’ve never asked my cousin how it makes her feel. My dad almost died on Easter Sunday, thirty-odd years ago. But as he said, “If I had to go, what could have been a better day?” Take care, we will be thinking about you(as others have said)

Baker. Hugs to you. You will have no problem finding a job. I think hospital is an excellent choice.

You know what’s better than retail Christmas? Retail Christmas when the power company flickers the lights, and crashes the registers.:smack: Thank God for beer.

Feel better, Midget. and your roommate sucks.

Butter, I had steak and **N.O.T,**s for dinner. GMTA(and us too!)

{{{{Cupcakes}}}} And good luck on the job hunt.

Did a double today dressed as Santa; it sounded like a good idea at the time.
And since I got the top of the page it was all worth it. More details later but the belts broke at one point and it was a brutal day ------- but really fun!

Up,caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

I slept till almost 7!!! I think the hard cider last night may have helped a little.

Higgs has been tended to and I’m caffeinating. Today will be a chore day, plus I have one afghan to finish so I can take it to my mom on Tues. I’ve also got a few more gifts to wrap. So it’ll be sorta busy, but nothing too strenuous.

**Cupcakes **- thanks for your kind words. I’ve experienced deaths of friends and family over the years, but for some reason, all three in this family dying within an 8-month stretch really hit hard. But life goes on…

And FWIW, I was 62 when I got my current job. In this county, we have a local website where lots of employers post ads, and I’m hearing from recruiters via Indeed.com a lot lately. I have to admit, it’s fun telling them I’m about to retire.

The sun is shining and we’re supposed to have a cool, dry day. So there’s that. Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 43 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 57 and mostly cloudy for the day. I woke up about five to take care of nature and decided to go back to bed. I went back to sleep until almost seven-thirty. Such a slug abed I am! No big plans for the day. I may or may not venture out for a haircut. I need one but not sure if’n I want to deal today. The place I like to go for a haircut is located next to :eek:Wally*World:eek:.

CupCakes organizational websites are a good place to job hunt. Also sites such as indeed.com can be a good source. Good Luck!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Sattidy!

I went to this indeed.com and looked it over. I’ve posted a simple resume with them.

I also Googled for “baker” jobs in my town. It appears two are listed that fit me, one at Texas Roadhouse, and one at Panera Bread. The latter is a night job, not ideal but better than swing shift. I don’t know how the pay compares, but both appear to have some benefits. All I have now is one week of paid vacation per year, nothing else.

I used to like my job. The actual work is fun. But the kitchen manager and I have developed some personal issues, and I just can’t stand it any more. I know it sounds snotty, but I deserve better, considering my abilities and experience.

Sorry to be such a downer.

Happy Saturday!

It’s a N.O.S. 43 degrees outside, high of 45 predicted. It’s very breezy as well.

I think I may win the slug-a-bed award today. I slept until 8:45.
There was a phone call I needed to make at 7:30, but I never thought to set the alarm because I never sleep this late.

Today I’ll finish up the stuff I didn’t finish yesterday.
Like putting the vacuums back together.
The dehumidifier started making horrible noises last night. I looked it up, the average lifespan is 3-5 years, this one is 4 and ran almost continuously, so it may be time to get a new one. My son cleaned the filter and fiddled with it for a bit. It ran quiet but then started protesting again. He turned it off and unplugged it, he’ll plug it back in and turn it on later and see what happens.

It’s not snotty to know your worth Baker.

The first load is in the washer. I’ve cleaned a bottle for my mom’s gift - just gotta dry the inside. Time to tidy the kitchen, then pull out the vacuum. Good times!

baker, keep plugging away, you’ll find something.

W00t! Sleep in day number one accomplished.

Nelson did well at the bar last night and received lots of skritches. We only stayed an hour and a half because of the smoke. I hadn’t been in a place where smoking was allowed indoors for a few years, but this place is a bar attached to a tobacco shop. It wasn’t horrible, but it was noticable.

****I just woke so I am the Slug-a-bed champ. I woke at my usual time but went back to sleep. I need to venture to the grocery store and if yesterday at the Pubic store is any indication it shan’t be fun. There are hoards of folks down here right now. The road in is non stop lines of cars. I need to make a list so I am not wandering aimlessly and so I won’t have to go back.

I see the government is shut down. It will not affect me at all unless it’s drags on for a long time. We earn our own money or some of it anyway.

Happy weekend all!

Red since I quit smoking almost 20 months ago I cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke. One of my employees smokes and it is revolting. My lungs reject it.
