Two and a 1/2 Men -Season Debut

Someone had to start a thread, might as well be me.

Ashton Kutcher makes his debut tonight 9 pm et. My Dish program guide gives this description:

Nice to Meet You, Waldon Schmidt, Alan and Jake meet Walden Schmidt, a broken hearted billionaire

Really curious How (if?) they are going to wrap up the plot line from last season’s last episode which was Alan in a middle of a Ponzi scheme and Charlie falling in love with Rose who was married to a mannequin. Will they ignore the plot line completely, or do something lame like say it was dream or will they actual put a button on it or will it somehow continue with the new cast member.

I really haven’t seen any spoilers and if you have, please spoil it (in spoiler boxes of course).

The’ve had at least one commercial addressing the “how are we going to handle the transition” question - Alan walks in wearing an astronaut’s spacesuit, while Jake is sitting on the couch in a spacesuit as well. Alan says something like “Boy, life sure has changed since we both became astronauts. By the way, NASA called and said they’ve managed to reanimate that fossil we dug up, and he’ll be living with us… Wait, stop, this is ridiculous. There’s got to be a better way to introduce the new guy!”

My daughter heard this in an interview, but it can’t be right (leaving space to allow for thread subscribers where spoilers show up in e-mails):

During the hiatus, Charlie and Rose get married. Rose sees Charlie flirting with another woman and pushes him in front of a train.

This is what I heard well nevermind I can’t figure out how to do spoilers stupid me!

They already wrapped up the Ponzi scheme - with Rose’s money Alan already paid everyone off.

Thanks for the responses.

OMG - Dharma and Greg had a cameo! That was a Chuck Lorre show too, weren’t it?

I’m rather enjoying it so far; I doubt I’ll keep watching it, but so far it’s amusing. The cameos were the best part of the episode. Also, no vanity card.

So, I ask as someone who’s never watched more than 5 minutes of the show, how did they get rid of him?

That was better than expected. Now they need to get rid of Alan. His character has gotten too pathetic and it’s not funny any more.

Is that how Charlie really died, what notfrommensa said in the spoiler box? I missed where they explained what happened.

As mentioned in the earlier spoiler, he “tripped” and “fell” in front of a train after his crazy stalker/girlfriend found him with another woman.

The spoiler above is basically correct. He “fell” in front of train while with Rose. I thought the old girlfriends at the funeral were great.

Overall, I think they did an above average job with the transition.

Just what AuntiePam said. Him and Rose got married. She caught him flirting and he ‘slipped’ in front of a train. Don’t worry, he didn’t suffer, he exploded like a balloon full of meat.

It must not have been a closed set, or maybe Lorre didn’t care if the secret got out. I thought it was pretty harsh, but at least Charlie didn’t suffer.

I kinda like Ashton’s character, whatever he’s supposed to be. Sorta naive, like Woody from Cheers? Not sure if I’ll keep watching though, unless they make some changes to Alan’s character. Is he going to be Ashton’s social mentor?

I’d be surprised, that would totally change the dynamic of the show and basically turn it into a spinoff. I’m guessing that Ashton will snap out of his funk within the next 1-2 weeks and become a sober version of Charlie. In fact, now that I’ve said that out loud, I wonder if they’re going to try to keep the same ‘dynamic’ but clean the show up for all the people that said they didn’t watch it because of the ‘bathroom humor’. So maybe get rid of the drugs, drinking, hookers, cheating and try to keep individual girls around (for Ashton) for a bit longer then Charlie held on to them.

My fav part by far was the Alternate Universe Dharma and Greg. AND … the in-joke about John Stamos as cameo was pretty funny.

There was a vanity card. It was a picture of 3 cans, whatever that means.

Is anyone else hungry?

As one who never cared for the show, I must say the first 15 minutes was great. And I doubly liked alternate universe Dharma and Greg.

So was John Stamos supposed to be Jesse?

I thought it odd that Dharma and Greg are NOT living happily ever after.

Since Charlie’s funeral was closed casket I wonder if they’ll ever resort to the “in a coma in France” part so Sheen can return if ratings dive.

Never happen. Sheen burned that bridge to the ground. They’ll cancel the shoe before he ever sets foot on the set again.
