Someone had to start a thread, might as well be me.
Ashton Kutcher makes his debut tonight 9 pm et. My Dish program guide gives this description:
Nice to Meet You, Waldon Schmidt, Alan and Jake meet Walden Schmidt, a broken hearted billionaire
Really curious How (if?) they are going to wrap up the plot line from last season’s last episode which was Alan in a middle of a Ponzi scheme and Charlie falling in love with Rose who was married to a mannequin. Will they ignore the plot line completely, or do something lame like say it was dream or will they actual put a button on it or will it somehow continue with the new cast member.
I really haven’t seen any spoilers and if you have, please spoil it (in spoiler boxes of course).
The’ve had at least one commercial addressing the “how are we going to handle the transition” question - Alan walks in wearing an astronaut’s spacesuit, while Jake is sitting on the couch in a spacesuit as well. Alan says something like “Boy, life sure has changed since we both became astronauts. By the way, NASA called and said they’ve managed to reanimate that fossil we dug up, and he’ll be living with us… Wait, stop, this is ridiculous. There’s got to be a better way to introduce the new guy!”
I’m rather enjoying it so far; I doubt I’ll keep watching it, but so far it’s amusing. The cameos were the best part of the episode. Also, no vanity card.
Just what AuntiePam said. Him and Rose got married. She caught him flirting and he ‘slipped’ in front of a train. Don’t worry, he didn’t suffer, he exploded like a balloon full of meat.
It must not have been a closed set, or maybe Lorre didn’t care if the secret got out. I thought it was pretty harsh, but at least Charlie didn’t suffer.
I kinda like Ashton’s character, whatever he’s supposed to be. Sorta naive, like Woody from Cheers? Not sure if I’ll keep watching though, unless they make some changes to Alan’s character. Is he going to be Ashton’s social mentor?
I’d be surprised, that would totally change the dynamic of the show and basically turn it into a spinoff. I’m guessing that Ashton will snap out of his funk within the next 1-2 weeks and become a sober version of Charlie. In fact, now that I’ve said that out loud, I wonder if they’re going to try to keep the same ‘dynamic’ but clean the show up for all the people that said they didn’t watch it because of the ‘bathroom humor’. So maybe get rid of the drugs, drinking, hookers, cheating and try to keep individual girls around (for Ashton) for a bit longer then Charlie held on to them.
