Epigramcracker, check out the FAQ threads in ATMB; HTML coding has been disabled (because, as usual, it was being abused). vBB coding is quite effective, though; if you want to turn a phrase into a link, you can type:
"A good search engine can be found [ url=www.google.com ]here [ /url ]. "
… only of course without the spaces inside the brackets, and have it come out as:
"A good search engine can be found here. "
Pretty sure we’re thinking the same scene- only time I recall nudity in LOTR. Ahhhh…nudity.
I’ll keep an eye out for Sam (in my own perverted hobbit-fancier way).
After fighting the Balrog, Gandalf came back “naked.” Although I didn’t interpret this as “nude” when I read it, apparently Peter Jackson et al did.
As others have posted, I also didn’t like how they just failed to show how Gandalf and those riders negotiated the long spears set to impale them as they galloped down the too-steep hill.
But I did manage (mostly) to justify my own objections to the battle quickly ending at that point because I figured that the 300+ fighters from the Helm’s Deep party had already fought so valiantly and so successfully that they had reduced the 10,000 person Saruman army by half, so Gandalf and riders were able to suddenly turn the tide of the battle. Also, they came in from the flank, which makes a difference, and on horses, and in the sunlight, and orcs hate daylight.
So, in short, I let myself suspend my disbelief.
But, another objection, I didn’t like how Jackson had Farimir take Frodo (and sam and gollum) prisoner and carry them all the way back to Gondor, all the time thinking to use the ring for himself. The book made a big deal about Boromir being the eldest and the braver, better fighter, but Faramir having better judgment and being especially perceptive. Didn’t he allow them to continue on their journey after only a short delay, and not take them to Gondor?
