Ugly ugly cars!

If you want ugly, a urinal shaped grill is always a good start.

Here’s an even better link.

Eeek - the first car I can remember my parents owning is on there. The same rusty-beige colour, too, if I’m not mistaken! Witness the Morris Marina (third pic down).

Even at an early age I remember being rather embarrassed to be seen in it. What’s worse is that, when it eventually packed up, Dad bought another one - only this was a blue Mk 2 with a vinyl roof, so that was alright then

To each his/her own. I think a lot of those cars, particularly the British tiny cars are oddly beautiful, and I love the Honda Element and Scion xB.

By the way, does anybody know where I can get an Isetta?

In that case, check this out. http://www.microcarmuseum.com/

There’s even a virtual tour

There’s always eBay and Hemmings. Also keep an eye on the For Sale section at microcar.org.

What I find interesting is how the USA can produce such amazingly beautiful muscle cars of yesteryear such as 60’s era Mustangs and Corvette Stingrays, and yet the vast majority after that in regards to American cars (by that I mean designed for the American market) to me is arse-ache inducingly ugly.

There seems to be such a contrast in design sensibilities between these two eras, or am I missing something?

That’s a great website. Thanks.

:smack: Jeez, can’t you recognise a crome vagina when you see one?

I haven’t seen an answer yet, but I’m guessing “PT” in PT Cruiser stands for Panel Truck.

I can’t provide a cite for it, but I believe it stands for Personal Transportation.

Oh yes, and I neglected to mention that the inspiration for the PT Cruiser was the 1930s vintage Chrysler Airflow.

Or Piece of Trash.

I don’t have time to dig around and find links to all the really ugly cars that I’ve seen over the years, but I will post a link to a car that has every car listed so far, beat hands down.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with Sir Vival!

Airflow? To me that name says “sanitary product”, not “hip and happenin’ automobile”.

Yeesh! That “bubble car” is beyond hideous.
Has anyone mentioned the cartoonishly ugly Plymouth Duster?

I just saw the Chevy RRS. Maybe it was vantage point from my third story window that influenced me but eeuuuuggghhhh! Who’s brilliant idea was it to put such wide wheel wells on such a squat vehicle and then add a cutsey bubble top as well? I repeat, eeeeuuuugggghhh!

i actually like the new dodge magnum… and it’s certainly better than the honda element and scion!

Wow Tikki that is really ugly, and even the convertable format is grotesquely deformed.

I saw another Toyota Scion today, an xA, it was called.
It wasn’t too bad. It looked like cross between a Mini Cooper and a Volkswagon Bug.
Here it is:

The angle on the photo isn’t very good, but it was kind of cute IRL.

The xB is the ugly boxy one that looks like a Lego car.

I’m sure we’ve all blocked it out of our minds, but AMC churned out some seriously ugly cars for a while in the mid-70’s.

The Gremlin.

The Javelin.

The Matador (Sedan),(Hatchback: Front, Rear).

The Eagle.

The Pacer (Front, Rear).

The Hornet.

And now for the flagship. The Ambassador actually looked OK in the late 60’s (Cellist sold separately), but what the hell happened a few years later? Sedan, Wagon.
