Ultrasound in Two Days--Predict the Gender, Win a Prize!

Actually, there’s no prize. I just lied to get you to look. (Hey! Quit throwing stuff at the pregnant chick!) If you predict correctly, however, there’s always the supreme satisfaction of knowing that you are inherently wise and farseeing, and generally just a much better person than those who guessed wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

So anyway, my ultrasound is Friday morning and I am–knock on wood–going to find out the gender of my belly sprout. I am quite willing to answer any questions you might have about myself, my pregnancy, the conception (within reason, ya pervs!), my cravings, etc. in order to help you make a “scientific” prediction. I thougt it might be fun, and it will help me pass the time so I don’t go absolutely batshit crazy waiting for 9am Friday morning to roll around…

Anyone interested?

Well, I’m not positive, but I’ve narrowed my choices to two…
[sub]ok, no more teasing the preggo[/sub]

Not that you have to justify anything to me, but why do you want to know? Is it for practical, planning purposes or are you impatient to find out or is it for naming purposes? I only ask because when it was mine, I didn’t want to know. I have so few fun surprises in my life, I enjoyed the months of speculation. Plus my doctor didn’t like doing ultrasounds unless he thought there might be a problem.

No matter - Are you enjoying your pregnancy? Have you had to throttle anyone for offering unsolicited advice or unwanted horror stories? Are you hoping for one sex over the other? Would you like a teenage daughter, cheap???

Basically FCM, I’m just massively impatient. On the practical side, it will be nice to know if I need to go out and buy a bunch of girl stuff (I already have an 19 mo. old son), and it will be a relief to think about names without getting really attached to one I won’t even be able to use, but when it comes right down to it, I just wanna know!
My doc orders the ultrasound routinely, so that wasn’t an issue.

As for the pregnancy, so far, so good. I was pretty sick the first few months, but things have been getting progressively better and I haven’t had any problems other than turning into a total glutton. I feel like I’m eating CONSTANTLY! (I had hyperemesis gravidarum with the first one, and had zero appetite) I’m not really showing yet, so the unsolicited advice is still something I have to look forward to… Oh goody!

As to my preference–I have a son, so a daughter would be nice. But [parental cliche] as long as it’s healthy, I’ll be happy! [/pc]

Is your face filled out (puffy)?

When Mrs. Spiff was pregnant, a female shopkeeper in NYC’s Chinatown said that we would have a boy because Mrs. Spiff’s face was puffy.

This was based on Chinese folklore, apparently.

Anyway, she was right, and we now have a son.

So, this system is obviously 100% accurate. So I say:

Is your face puffy?

If yes, a boy.

If no, a girl.

If kinda, then a JLC.

Well, we couldn’t tell on the first two ultrasounds. But the third one baby Kate acted the stripper and made sure there was no doubt. So don’t be surprised if you can’t tell.

We wanted to know. It makes planning so much easier.

Spiff–as far as I can tell, I have no “puffy-face”. You are hereby noted as having chosen GIRL My first prediction, how exciting!

Jonathan Chance–you are a naughty, naughty man. Of course my ultrasound will reveal the gender. And if it doesn’t, I’ll know it’s because you JINXED ME! :stuck_out_tongue:
[sub]three ultrasounds?! did you keep trying in order to find out the gender, or did your doc just get kickbacks from the techs? [/sub]

When are you due. I need some time frame to make a totally and completely unscientific decision regarding the sex of the baby. I’ve already discarded the possibility of puppy & kitty.

My due date is June 14, 2003. Only 21 and a 1/2 weeks to go!

I’m sorry but according to my niece & nephew list (4 so far), girls are born in odd months. Looks like you’re in for another boy.

Make I suggest setting up a poll at expectnet?

We did it for BabyMaeve…seemed to be kind of fun for friends and family.

I vote for a girl! (based on the very scientific data that you had no appetite last time, and this time you can’t get enough food)

I predect and I am seldom right about these things that you will have twins, one of each. Go figure.

And best of luck!

So little bit votes BOY (although you might want to discuss your theory with my son, who was a May baby… :D)

mia, bless her heart, gives me another vote for GIRL. Yahoo!

and Happyjoe attempts to give me a heart attack. If I have twins buster, I’m coming looking for you!

That brings the tally to

BOY-- 2

GIRL-- 3

beagledave–that site looks like it would be fun. I’m the only one in my family who really spends any time online though, so unfortunately I doubt I’d get much input. Really though, was that a polite hint that I’m driving you nuts with the baby-talk?

Did the conception occur horizontally or vertically?

If Horizontal, I’ll guess girl.

If vertically, I’ll guess boy.

If it was at some obtuse angle then yes, I’d like details.

Girl, June 10th.

Just cuz that’s when mine was born last year!

Tell me the month of conception and your age at the time of conception and I will use my psychic powers to predict the sex of the baby.

Madame dragongirl, Conception occurred (vertically, IIRC, which makes lieu’s prediction BOY) in September, on a Friday–to be precise. I had just turned 25 the previous Tuesday.

What does your crystal ball say?

I’ll need to see pregnancy photos when you get a little bigger. My prediction (though I won’t reveal my code just yet) will be based upon whether the little bugger’s riding high or low.

Oh, wait, that won’t work, if you’ll be finding out on Friday . . . well, don’t tell me when you find out . . .

Oh, what the hell–how much longer do we have to wait, exactly?

Well, since it’s been pointed out that we can’t do the high low thing with your tummy I would like to know the heart rate.
When I get that info I will give you my guess.
