I don’t really have a dog in this fight but it seems to me that people trying to one up each other with ever more preposterous and hyperbolic insults is something that predates the internet, probably by millenia. See “yo mama” jokes, for instance.

The point is that the question had been asked and answered, the thread had moved on, and to go back and reply to it three days later with a content-free snipe just for the opportunity to dish out more of your trademark snark looks kinda desperate.

I think the key element you’re overlooking there is “shitting on a discussion.” I don’t really see how Una’s post could be read as “shitting on the discussion” you were having.
Which, again, isn’t the same thing as saying that what she posted was hunky-dory. Just that it wasn’t thread shitting, or trolling.

Obviously you’re siding with Una on this pitting which is fine by me, as I said I don’t give a crap about the whole shebang but I’ve always thought of you as a pretty level headed guy when it comes to arguments – at least in the ones I’ve either participated with you in thread or others I’ve read you’ve posted to. So I am befuddled by your “definition” of thread-shitting as it appears to have been pulled directly from your ass. What is says is “belittling […] the people discussing [the topic].” If you think this doesn’t apply, please explain how (a) Una’s posts are belittling me and/or (b) she’s not doing it because of the topic I’m discussing. Call me crazy, but “you’re a worthless poster who contributes nothing and therefore this thread is stupid and your opinions don’t matter” sounds to me to be a lot like “belittling […] the people discussing [the topic].”
