Debated wheter this was a GQ or MPSIMS.
This is a board where someone could ask about the original toilets in St. James Palace and within 15 minutes there would be 2 answers, one from a Doper that did their Ph.D thesis on the subject and another from a Doper’s FIL who was a plumber that worked on the original piping in 1973.
So are there any questions that you have asked on the Dope that were never answered? I think there are only 2 types for non-answers. One where there are no replies except for bumps and ones that were answered but the answers were all wrong.
For me there is one about a song in the 80’s, popular for a couple of weeks, one-hit wonders, etc. Every answer was wrong.
I don’t hold out much hope that my current question about the Cold Song will get answered but this being the Dope, there may be an answer tomorrow from someone who saw it while studying boroque opera in school.
On any forum page, set it to show threads “from the beginning” and sorted by number of replies, ascending. You’ll see oodles of threads that never got any replies.
Sorting GQ threads by: Number of Replies
Ascending Sort
From the Beginning
Yields 35 pages and part of (89) another page of threads with 0 replies
Not counting stickies, there’s 150 threads per page (including threads the mods moved elsewhere)
36 * 150 + 89 = 5489 threads, presumably questions, without answers.
That’s out of 1236 pages of threads or roughly 185400 questions.
A minimum of 3% of GQ questions do not get answered.
We still don’t know the outcome of the “14 k of g in an f p d” question, other than it likely being a typo of some kind. But we can never know for sure.
The origin of the original Toynbee plaques found mysteriously embedded in city streets across the country and the world was one notable question. To be fair, it was an unsolved mystery at the time and still may be. We made progress on who was behind it but there wasn’t a true breakthrough.
There was also that superhard question that appeared as a contest somewhere else. The U.S. states were listed in a certain order and the goal was to find out what that order was. Nobody could figure it out but at least at that time either. I still don’t know what the answer was.
I asked a factual question that I was certain would get a factual answer, but no one (or at least the 5 or 6 Dopers who responded) ever seemed to know for certain.
In California (or any other state with legalized prescription marijuana) can a police officer who has a 'script for pot from his doctor smoke with the blessing of the state police officials?
I suppose that it would vary by state and even by specific jurisdiction, but most states have a board that oversees law enforcement officials, and I would like to know how it works where you are at…
Any Dopers in the know on this one?
Can a cop who has a medical marijuana prescription smoke and still keep his badge?
Here’s mine… and I did expect an answer. Again, I suck a searching but this was a major radio market. And at the time I was there this song was very popular and received a lot of air play. I find it unfathomable that isn’t a trace of it on the web. Especially since this is the kind of stuff the 'net crowd just loves to beat to death.
