I thought this line was extremely funny in the given context, as one or more of the banned posters in question used to frequently and randomly accuse people of this.

All kidding aside, I posted the first of these threads after reading about one of these banned posters. As a newbie, I guess I just found the dark secrets of SDMB too alluring… Didn’t take into account that it probably just serves to encourage idiots (the “bad guys”, not the OP).
I actually apologized to Uncle Beer in an email, because I realized that a) it’s not the true purpose of the board, and b) it could actually HARM the board.
Hopefully, apologies are either unnecessary or accepted.
Pit, relax. Everything’s cool. I don’t THINK anyone’s really holding anything against us…yet
Sorry if I haven’t answered anybody above. When I said I didn’t really care about UncleBeer I meant it, so I’m not reading this thread. Just thought if he could step on my toes, I’d return the favor. (I HATE being called Pitty- my Nanny always called me that. He does kind of resemble her. Say…with the right color wig…has anyone seen both of them together?)

One of the most horrendous trolls who ever visited these boards once said, and you could hear the concern just DRIPPING from his typing fingers, “UncleBeer, are you really a heavy drinker? That would explain a lot of things.” I laughed so hard that an antler came out of my nose, and I’ve felt guilty as hell ever since.

The primary purpose of this message board (as a whole) is to stomp out ignorance. It is NOT to discuss how the board is run, or should be run, or to snipe at other posters or the moderators unless they are interfering in the goal of stomping out ignorance. If you are going to speculate on something, don’t put it forward as a fact. And if you have solid proof (or even strong suspicion) that a banned person is posting under another name, then email one or more mods or admins. Preferably TubaDiva and/or myself, as we are the ones who take care of most of this.

Points of clarification needed, if you would be so kind.
1- How is this an example of trolling?
By stating he’s not coming back to a thread he’s started?
Even Ed Zotti has done this.
His thread was closed (presumably by UncleBeer so he could have the last word, where he gratutously insults the OP as an exit pose) and the guy comes here to complain and have his own stab at having the last word.
This falls under “turn-about is fair play”. Sure you mods can randomly insult serious posters on ATMB and lock the thread, but then you should have the class to accept a complaint about such behavior here in the pit.
Or am I wrong?
2- It does appear that the OP was trying in his ATMB post to fight ignorance. He was stating the obvious that “banned” people simply return instantly. This has happened so many dozen times it’s really hard to ignore. They often reappear on the same thread on the next post with a new digit after their name. So it’s not a secret that this happens.
Take the example shown in thisthread where **Krispy Original **describes exactly this process.
Or am I wrong?
3- It seems odd to post a warning to a person on a thread he has posted that he is no longer reading. How exactly is he supposed to get the warning?
Did you email him? You always say email is the only way to be sure of things. (Actually, I suppose you might guess someone else would email him to read your message, but you can’t count on that.)

Note this isn’t a complaint about how you run the board, just seeking clarification so I can plan accordingly, should something similar happen where a thread I’m on gets closed.
