Uncommon celebrity crushes

Anyone else have some? Most people [it seems] go for only the very well known actors and actresses or the super popular ones. Example: I do not really find Scarlett Johansen attractive, but nearly every other male I know does… As for me, in terms of looks and acting skills…Claire Danes…oh yeah. Frances McDormand in her heyday, Amanda Peet… How about you all?

I’ve been watching “My name is Earl” on Netflix. Been crushing on whoever that skinny blonde girl is.

Rosario Dawson

Ming-na Wen

Heather Graham

All of these sound like common crushes.

I, on the other hand, crush on Amy Winehouse (or did, when she was alive) and Kate Micucci. And Jena Malone.

Nah those are pretty uncommon, in my circles anyhow. I liked Jena Malone when I was younger, too and Clea DuVall in “The Faculty”. I’ve never heard of anyone liking Heather Graham to be honest… seems like an obvious one but nope, nobody i’ve met ever has.

Really? Heather Graham is beautiful. Horrible actress but I won’t hold that against her.

Mary Lynn Rajskub

Is having a massive crush on Jessica Chastain rare?

Joan Cusack.

In that case, run, don’t walk to your nearest DVD dispensary and buy a copy of Poison Ivy 3: The New Seduction. (You need the original release with both widescreen and open matte versions in case there are newer, single aspect ratio releases. You will better appreciate the open matte version.)

I would say almost all of my celebrity crushes are uncommon; not that they’re necessarily surprising, just women who seem to go largely unmentioned when such things are discussed. I caught an old rerun of Wings last night with Valerie Mahaffey; hysterically funny and wicked cute.

I could tell you what I would hold against her.

I never like the ones I’m supposed to like.

However, I think Steve Buscemi is pretty hot. He plays likable (or at least funny) characters in the movies, so I feel happy when I see his face. And he’s apparently a great guy in real life as well. What’s not to like?

Good god, really? Rollergirl? Rollergirl! Good lord she’s hot.

My offbeat crush is Rachel Bloom, but I suspect it’s not all that unusual–it’s just not one of the usual names that come up in conversation.

I’ve never met anyone else with a crush on Francesca Annis.

Julia Stiles’ name never seems to come up in these threads. But I really like her pearlescent beauty, coupled with her gravity. I tend to be attracted to women with resting solemn face. Julianna Margulies is another.

Underratedly attractive and, for a time in the 90s, the go-to actress if you wanted to cast a neurotic high-strung character. Unfortunately, that likely got her typecast and limited the number of roles offered to her.

I used to have this Debra Winger thing. Not much more to say.

On Wings she was a high school classmate of Joe’s who was totally obsessed with him, but hid it perfectly when anyone else was around. She got to flip from completely normal to sitcom batshit, and was brilliant at it. Typecast, perhaps, but if you needed someone for that kind of role you couldn’t do much better.

The recently- (and all-to-early) departed Glenne Headly, who was a terrifically talented actress, to boot. I first saw her in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and I was smitten. The turn her character took at the end just set the hook deeper.

I’ll third Valerie Mahaffey!

I’ll add Judy Greer. It seems to me there’s some similar feature, or character trait about all three of these actresses. Can’t quite put my finger on it, though.

My oddest crush has to be Kristen Schaal. She’s wickedly funny and smart, and just seems like someone I’d have a really good time with. I absolutely adore her.
