Unfinished business....

What is it that you have always wanted to do, that either time, or money or fear has prevented you from doing it?

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

Scuba Diving

I have a wicked phobia about swimming in non-pool water sources (ponds, lakes, oceans, etc). Just as strongly, I have the urge to go scuba diving and swim among the fishes and see the beauty of the ocean.

I WILL overcome it, though. I have a goal in mind to do it by next summer.

Voted “Most Empathetic”- can you believe that?

the lambada of course…its the forbidden dance don’t you know

Time and money? That’s easy, flying lessons.

Fear? Well, that’s a little tougher. Do you want to talk about the beautiful women I never asked out, the high-risk, high-return financial investments I didn’t make, or the throw-caution-to-the-winds move to New York to seek my fame and fortune as a writer that I didn’t do?

I understand all the words, they just don’t make sense together like that.

Zette: Scuba Diving

Do it, you won’t regret it.

kunilou: Time and money? That’s easy, flying lessons

Especially time. If you can, save up the entire dollar amount before you start and then fly, fly, fly whenever you can. Waiting for funds for another lesson wastes time and money by having to re-learn the same skills over and over.

Scuba & Aviation: Two of the best ways to escape from mundane reality and fiscal responsibility.

I’ve always wanted to be an international playboy, residing on cruise ships and in exotic locales, being supported by rich women to live a life of leisure. My fear is that if I showed my chubby, un-tan body on a cruise ship, I would be mocked and derided. But maybe one day, I will gather up the courage…

I have always wanted to learn to wind surf. Not sure I would be any good at it, as with most sports, I am kind of a clutz, but it looks like it is a real blast.

Someday…preferably on a tropical beach somewhere… I am gonna do it!

Well, time and money go hand in hand. I’d really like to do a lot more traveling than I do. Time and money are both limiting factors for that though…

“So, for once in my life, let me get what I want.
Lord knows, it would be the first time.”

To sail the open seas, away from the things of man.

Oh yeah, and that PhD in physics I’ve always wanted…
And,
And,
And…

I have never ridden on a motorcycle and probably never will. A very good friend of mine was in an awful motorcycle accident February 14, 1994. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and his body skidded across the pavement… not a pretty sight. I’ve also known a couple of people who got really scrapped up from motorcycle accidents.

I’m also terrified to fly. I just know that the minute I set foot on a plane… it’s going to crash. I know that it’s safer than driving and plane crashes are rather rare… but just the same… I’ll drive.

That John Denver’s full of shit man!

I’m going to spend two weeks up the Amazon next January, but maybe I mentioned that before. I’ve probably also mentioned getting a big damn boat and living adrift in the South Pacific. Those things are definitely going to happen.

Skydiving - did that last month in San Diego.

Rapelling - been there many times. 100’ ft cliff.

Spelunking - Four of us got lost in a cave one time for 6 hours (not to include the hour before we figured out we were lost). It was a very, very large, very, very precipitous cave.

I’ve been SCUBA diving, but my license expired. I’m getting recertified beginning 4/17/00. It’s awesome and you’ll love it if you go.

What I don’t think I’m going to get to work in is flying lessons.

I also want to learn Espanol. Hablo pocito Espanol.

I’ll probably end up writing a book one of these days after I find that job I want where I can get some experience programming in the C computer language. Once I get some experience and the confidence in my ability, I’ll begin to tackle that chemistry/physics/math educational software that’s gonna’ make me rich. Then maybe the flying lessons.

Oh, yeah, that trip to Africa too.

Voted most likely to ramble on inanely - I hope I’ve not taken someone else’s title ‘cause as far as I know I just made that up and I wouldn’t want to make anyone mad at me or anything like that and all ya’ know.

Take my BS and turn it into a Master’s.
But I ran out of money. :frowning:
I will go back, I must. My sister won’t let me rest until I have shiny piece of paper that says “You are officially smart.”

“Winners never quit and quitters never win, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.”

I, like Garth Brooks, would buy my way onto a major league team for spring training. Then I would see games at all of the major leauge parks.

Scary stuff? Parachuting, hot air balloon ride (scared of the fire they use)

And a weird one, I was married at 19, my parents philosophy was you don’t get out of the house until you’re married, so I married the first guy who asked me. We divorced 6 years later in 1979. I’ve been married now 20 years to my second husband, and yet I would still like to tell my first husband that I’m sorry for the idiotic things that happened way back when. My husband now is totally against me doing anything to fulfill this, and frankly, I’m scared it wouldn’t be taken the way I would want it to be. But, it’s certainly unfinished business… :frowning:

“Subconsciously there are many people you hate.” “Consciously, sir, consciously.” Yossarian corrected in an effort to help. “I hate them consciously.”

Oh, Arnold, you didn’t look chubby to me. And you don’t need a tan; women will swoon over your resonant voice and piercing eyes!

I guess I’m just better off living with my inner tensions.

Time and money seem to be more limiting than fear. Would still love to make that cycling trip in Ireland. Actually, if I could swing 6-9 weeks, a cycling trip across the U.S. of A.
Would still like to learn to fly. Skydive at least once.
Traveling more in general would be nice. To live abroad again, but now with my family. Give my son the chance to spend a few years in school learning one or two more languages because he’s surrounded by them.

Sing professionally. I’ve got a good voice, and have done a lot with it as an amateur, but I would like to have gotten professional training and tried to become a singer.

I would love to be able to travel anywhere, anytime. And stay whereever I was as long as I wished.Get to know places. But, yeah-yeah, there’s the money thing :frowning: and the time thing.
As far as fear preventing me from doing something, I haven’t had a problem with that.I really don’t want to do the things I’m afraid of.
Does insecurity count?

Zette:
A lot of people freak out when they realize that they’re underwater and still breathing. Once you get over that, it’s a snap. And sooooooo much fun.

RE the op, I’d say bungee jumping, skydiving, and the international playboy thing.
