I’ll keep you guys posted - I should know my final plans within the week. Anyone for Belgo’s? Or don’t you guys hold with that new fangled foreign food?
Check this out to find out what most people who go to the BritDopes views on ‘food’ is.
'Tis funny, but not an accurate relflection methinks - some of us went to the Mongolian BBQ last Dopefest.
Shall we organise something like that for the evening? Or is everyone going to be happy with pub food?
I’ve been dying to go to Belgo’s for ages! Piles of steak and chips and garlicky mussels, mmmmmmm…Count me in if it looks even remotely likely, otherwise I’ll have to make do with Pub food.
I like Pub Food, but as per the last one, if peeps wander off in search of ‘food’ elsewhere, i’m sure myself and others will stay behind as a vanguard drinking and pub fooding.
Arrr! I said vanguard.
In that case, as per ianzin’s example in the last LonDope Planning Thread, we need a list of options:

[li]Food? What’s that? Food is for the weak. Beer is all that is neccesary.[/li][li]We’re in a pub, therefore, pub food[/li][li]Angua’s cookies will suffice[/li][li]Curry?[/li][li]Belgos?[/li][li]Something else?[/li][/ol]
If we can get numbers and a place organised by mid-week, then we can book somewhere if neccesary.
Bel-GO’S! Bel-GO’S!
I think Bib wants to go to Belgo’s. Is the nearest one to the London Bridge pub in Convenient Garden?
If a vanguard is needed, a vanguard there will be.
You will not stand alone, brother.
Right on! please lengthen your message to at least 10 ;iudbivbar ih fbaobbob
Has Belgo’s stopped serving beer?
Not as far as I can tell. But then, I can’t get into their website, so I only have Google’s word to go on, and we’ve already organised a pub for next weekend, and changing it now would just confuse people.
Food is for the weak.
How near to the pub is the pink tank?
Is that the strange pink tank like thing?
There are two Belgo outlets in central London. Belgo Centraal is located in the little maze of streets around Neal’s Yard, north of Covent garden. On the other hand, there’s also their more-drinking-less-eating branch, Bierodrome, on Kingsway (inbetween Holborn tube and Aldwych). Bierodrome might be completely dead on a Saturday, but Centraal is uncomfortably cramped and overheated.
What is this Belgo thing of which you speak?
Beer, Belgian. Mostly restaurants (moules et frites, etc), but specialising in beer as well. Bierodrome is their bar chain.
I might turn up at the George if paul is properly sedated, but I detest Belgos – dark, crowded, smoky, overdesigned, expensive, and I can make better mussels at home (although admittedly mussels take forever to make). Plus my local Safeway sells Chimay, so I have no reason to ever go to Belgos.
A bit SSE of Tower Bridge is a tank (as in tracked vehicle with big gun) that some ladies have painted pink (or desert camouflage colour).
