Halva. Sesame seed crushed with honey. The marble flavor is best. No one else I know eats it. Hard to find in my neck of the woods.
Raw potato slices! Yum! With salt, pepper, maybe a little salad dressing…potato salad means something different to other folks. Especially the Yukon Gold spuds.
Crushed saltines and milk for breakfast, too.
Most Aussies love vegemite! It’s like a stable brekky food!
It’s only silly Merkins who don’t know how to eat it that don’t like it!!
Liver, of course. If properly prepared, it’s heavely.
Lima beans. Delicious.
It’s been years, but I’d love to try beef tongue again. I used to like it as a child, especially the part with the taste buds.
No. I am not kidding.
Tonic water, all by itself.
Cold brussels sprouts.
Mmmmmmmm…
Kale. Freshly cooked, buttered and salted.
Oh gosh yes!
Liver and onions, yes!
Toungue, yes especially if its done right in a sandwich.
And buttermilk.
We are talking comfort food here.
Livermush.
Mmmmm…cold, sliced thin on white bread with mustard!
I’m hungry now.
Oh, and I love circus peanuts!
Sparkling wild berry Jello…
Haven’t met anyone else who indulges in this cold, fizzy jiggly goodness.
fried okra… probably the only fried thing I like
cornbread
tofu (ok, southern-ness back in check now)
ugh okra
Here is a link for a similar thread in April.

Ya gotta love Scrapple! What’s scrapple? Its a Mid Atlantic (PA, DE,MD) delicacy where you take the best parts of the pig and throw them away. Take the rest, grind it up, mix in some corn meal and spices. It’s sold in bricks. Just cut 1/2 inch slab and fry it so that the outside is crispy and the inside is hot, but soft. mmmmmm…
No, if I wouldn’t eat any object smarter tham me, then balut and tripe would be out too. Vegemite is probably ok. Intellectually, I’m marginally ahead of yeast (possibly)
I just googled that up, and the site I went to said it’s not cheese at all, but processed meat scraps set in gelatine, and known as “brawn” in the UK. If that’s the stuff you’re talking about, then yes I like it.
Oh, and I like Spam too.
So, have you tried the food the locals get in the Big House, Qadgop? Is it edible?
Oh, I know what it is all right. My folks, both from PA, buy it every now and then via relatives there. I still haven’t worked up the courage to eat it, but someday I may actually sample it.
I’ve had it. It’s not bad.
You have to try scrapple! My father used to make it when we lived on the farm (Lycoming County, PA) and luckily, I can buy it out here in AZ. Yummy porky goodness.
-
Marmite. My SO will not come near me if I eat the stuff. This can be of strategic importance.
-
Sardines, herring, mackerel & all other smelly fish.
-
Black Pudding/Blood Pudding/Blutwurst.
-
Bread with schmaltz.
-
Tripe soup (either Mexican or Polish-style)
Oh, and halva rocks! I think its fairly inoffensive. I believe the only thing that I’ve ever eaten in my life that I didn’t like was brussel sprouts. I’m ready to give 'em another shot, though…
I like to keep a box of saltines around for snacking.
I also feel cauliflower is a sadly underrated vegetable.
Halva is delish!
Especially chocolate-covered halva…mmmmmmmmmm
