**FCD **is within an hour of Ocala - he should get to his folks’ place for a late supper. I’ve been knitting and Netflixin’ all afternoon. Just fed Higgs, and I’m going to have pierogi for supper.
It’s been a good, pretty lazy day. I have to finish making the bed, but the bedspread smells sooooooo good after hanging outside to dry, I may stay awake all night sniffing it!
I found two I like, one is perfect move in condition but it’s at the top end of my price range and it has a little quirk. The full bath is on the first floor in an addition behind the kitchen. The half bath is upstairs with the bedrooms. I have no idea what they were thinking with that one.
The other one needs work, as in has broken windows and missing fixtures and a really old kitchen. It’s in a nicer neighborhood and is eligible for HomePath financing, and is $20,000 cheaper.
My eyes are burning from lack of sleep and I’m feeling a bit blurfy, time to take a nap and then to irk.
OYKW done good. Instead of waffles, we had pancakes, bacon, and scrambled aigs. 'Twas nummy.
So, the shrimpies will be for N.O.L. tomorrow. I made a green sallit already. I’m thinkin’ succotash (for some reason I’ve been wantin’ succotash) and rolls would complete an easy to make but yummy N.O.L.
Also, I shall be a Luterun again tomorrow. I shall serve as a Lector for the nine a.m. service. So I guess this will be more of a brunch than N.O.L. A good reason to have a Bloody Mary!
I’ve been surprisingly productive! We have a Crazy Bitch Guest at irk that I just had to tell Irish Storyteller about, and I also got to chat with his new non-crazy girlfriend a bit.* I washed the window and dumped the remains of the worm bin bedding** on the window garden plot so the dirt won’t splash back up as bad, and then I took the laundry out for it’s weekly spin and unravelled the circular rug once again***. Now I am home where the remainder afternoon shall be frittered away courtesy of the Elder Scrolls.
*For the record, I hate it when people hand off the phone to someone I’ve never met and expect me to talk to them. Can I meet them in person first?
**Shredded newspapers. I gave up on the first worm bin about five months ago and it’s been sitting on the porch since then. When the bait shops open up I’m going to start again.
***We’re gonna need a bigger hook.
If you have a few days spare, it’d be easy to arrange a trip- there’s loads of companies run tours from Salisbury, and it’s dead easy to get there on public transport even if there’s nothing direct from Southhampton.
I must admit though, I’ve lived just over an hour away from the place for the last 5 years, and I’ve never been… I’ll get round to it eventually.
I had a jolly nice day, met lots of friends I haven’t seen in ages, and even did some actual juggling for once. Finally also sort of got a trick I’ve been working on for ages.
The trip back was slightly marred by a drunk guy deciding to stick a sandbag he’d nicked from some roadworks on the bonnet of my car while I was waiting at some traffic lights, but luckily his mate was a bit more sober, and took it off again while apologising rather frantically. You’ve got to love the city centre on a Saturday night
Nuts, we won’t have days to spare. Southampton is the start and midpoint of the cruise - we were hoping to do Stonehenge at the midpoint since we’ll be in port about 10 hours. Then that evening, we depart for Bergen, Norway. I’m wondering if they don’t do side trips when Southampton is debark/embark port as opposed to a stop along the way. Plenty of time to figure it out, since that stop is Sep 8.
My sweetie has gotten to his folks’ place safely. I’m about to resume the knit position in front of TV - maybe I’ll finish making the bed first. Anyway, signing off for now.
I tried a different Chinese place this evening - they let you concoct your own dish - which veggies, which sauce, which protein, and choice of rice. So I have snowpeas, broccoli, string beans, and cabbage with beef in garlic sauce. It was Teh Yum.
You should go on the cruise with MOOOOOOM and her mom just so you can keep watch for icebergs. This will require you to stay on deck at all times. You must remain diligent.
Very frustrating afternoon. We were chugging along nicely on the errands up until we got a flat tire (tire place subsequently found that we’d apparently run over a nail or some such). DH’s nice hydraulic jack broke along the way (fortunately we had a spare, of a simpler and more primitive variety but it worked), but we wrangled on the spare. Within a few blocks, burning rubber smell. Turned out we had The Amazing Disintegrating Spare (the car’s a 1997, and for all I know that spare was in the trunk when the car left the factory). Then had tow truck woes (guy was sent to the wrong area first, with the wrong type of truck for our needs, which forced some wheel-shuffling, then had been told the wrong destination, although he did take us to the right place).
Oddly enough, the one thing I’m most aggravated by (since everything else got solved) is that I missed out on my craft store trip. We were on our way to that stop, the last on our planned run, when the tire saga began, and by the time tires were under control, any craft store would have been closed.
I’m currently lobbying for Monday. I suppose I could take the car and go without DH, but he has a much better grasp of babying the transmission in its current woes than I do.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a cloudy 44 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 67 and rain. Supposed to rain this afternoon. We shall see.
Nettie ICK! Sorry for all the tire woes.
Spidey they just might make good sushi at that. I like sushi as does JDD. OYKW and JDD Partner don’t. Sometimes JDD and I sneak off for sushi. doggio my first thought was sushi and saki.
Speakin’ of OYKW, he’s all sniffly and sneezey this mornin’ poor thing. Seems to be an allergy thing as does not have a fever and is not achy except for his haid. He took some Benadryl[sup]TM[/sup] and went back to bed. Thus, I shall deheathenate solo today.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, purtification for deheathenization with the Lutherans must commence.
A certain soon-to-be filleted canine woke me at 4. I let her out to pee, then let her come into the bed with me, hoping she’d snooze some more. She finally settled down about 5:15, and woke again before 6:30. I can’t win. So I’m up.
I was hoping to spend the day in my robe, just because. That ain’t gonna happen - I just used the last of the milk on my Kix, so I gotta go to Food Lion, altho I suppose I could pick some up on the way home - I just have to be sure not to plan supper that requires milk.
**Nuts **- I think it’s a requirement that if you live near a beloved tourist site, you may not visit it till you’ve moved away then come back for a visit… I lived within walking distance of the famous Hotel Del Coronado and never once wandered over there. Not likely I’ll ever stay there, tho. The cheapest room is $239/night and the cheapest ocean view room is $499/night! Oh well, missed opportunity.
No idea what today will hold. I may just knit in front of the TV or I may do something that requires me to move. The cat’s tower needs to be repaired and since **FCD **doesn’t want to deal with it, I might do it. At a minimum, I can wrap the center post with the sisal rope to give them a scratching post. Maybe I will…
The up all night MMP? Well, I stayed up pretty much all night at the best cast party ever!! Sometimes life is just amazing. It was a great party indeed. I haven’t gone to bed yet, though I did doze off just a little at the party and on the way home. I rode the subway and bus home with my orchestra conductor, who slept a lot of the way. I helped him wake up before his stop came.
I have so many wonderful memories of my theatre group.
