I know we bitch about response time sucking horribly, but lately I’ve been getting
on the vast majority of the threads that I try to open. For example, to post this message, I had to open the ATMB top level, and it gave me that message 12 times in the last 15 minutes before I got it open and could post this message. This occurs on a daily basis.
I can understand timeouts because the server can’t handle the load, but in those cases, the server is still visible. Is the server crashing and having to be rebooted on a fairly regular basis? Why else would it vanish completely?
Dunno, Clothy. Response times for me have been generally quite good lately. There may be some other bottleneck between you and the SDMB. How’s your browsing in other places around the 'Net?
I can try to open a page on SDMB, sit and wait for a while, then go over and root around on Delphi or Yahoo Groups and have the pages open with minimal delay, then come back to the Server Not Found error on SDMB.
It took me three attempts to get past the SNF error to post this reply today.
Although response times have generally been good for me, I still notice a slowdown when many people might conceivably be accessing the board at once (lunchtime in the eastern and central U.S., for instance).
