Another more normal heave, I was out by 11. Although the 36 degree ferret Height temp and 26 degree windchill made me want to stay inside. When I came home I filled the vermin feeder. I also put the new bag of dry, flavorless bit into the catfood container. Spot started to yowl loudly, because he wanted the new food, not the stuff in his full bowl. He also was screaming that I didn’t give him any more ice cubes to play with, even though had immediately batted 3 of them under the fridge. The boy is being the Prima-est of Donnas today. I’m having some hot chocolate with tequila, because it’s Tenochtitlan somewhere. The laundry is done and in the dryer, so I shall nap.

and our current retention policy.
I’m sorry that you got hit. If you’re not in a no fault state, you shouldn’t have to worry about a deductible. He was at fault (almost all rear end accidents, the guy behind is deemed at fault), so his insurance will have to pony up for both vehicles.
I talked to SIL for a while today. She’s having to deal with insurance for the tree damage and freezer losses from the 8 days she was out of power from the ice storm. I don’t envy her.
Car accidents are never fun… Hope it’s easy to get everything sorted.
We do get some guys in kilts on the streets here, but it’s not common. Weddings, ceilidhs and buskers playing bagpipes aimed at tourists are the main sightings, but there are a few guys who wear one routinely. Proper wool kilts are really expensive and very difficult to wash and the utilikilts haven’t really caught on. I know one guy who used to wear one, but though he is Scottish he lived in London, so it doesn’t really count.
It was only raining a little today, which practically counts as good weather. The stream at the bottom of the hill has been on the edge of bursting its banks for weeks now, and I’m honestly just bored of it.
On the plus side, this endless grey has pushed me to start getting ready for my trip next week (I’m normally a last minute chaos packer), simply because I wanted to think about sun and dig out all the sunny weather stuff… which is when I realised I can’t find my swimsuit anywhere, and given that I have splashed out on renting a place with a pool, I’d like to have one. I’m an odd size, so it’s normally a bit of a mission to find one that actually fits, meaning I can’t just bank on getting one on the small island I’m going to. Luckily the one specialist lingerie shop in the area had- literally- one in stock.. I was thinking I’d have to make a trip into Edinburgh or Glasgow, and I don’t really have time, so that was handy, but still, it’s over £50 I wasn’t planning on spending. Not sure the old one would fit even if I did find it anyway though.
Other’n that, I’ve properly cleaned and rearranged the rat cage, and done a little sorting through the wardrobe. I really need to have a proper clearout of clothes…
The Spousal Unit wanted escargots tonight, but I used the last of the snails for Christmas Eve Dinner. I’ve ordered more, but the ones I get can only be had individually, or a pack of 12 cans at da Jungle. So we’ll have a dozen cans of snails on Monday.
We’ve had the Olympic Games on. I was happy to see Francesca Lollobrigida win a Gold medal in Speed Skating. And set a new Olympic record. In her home country. On her birthday.
It is officially holy crap it’s cold out weather. Down to -2 ferrets and windy.
Ms Peach has now decided that being under the desk while I’m at the computer is the best place to be, but that also involves lots of coming and going from under the desk.
Some of my friends who play Celtic music wear traditional wool kilts. Even years ago, they paid ~$400 USD each for them. That’s a lot of money for one garment.
Probably ought to read those someday – there are certainly enough of them to keep me occupied for a while, and the library certainly has most, if not all, of them. Ditto Williamson’s “Freehold” series.
Think I said around $300 for mine at Strone House back in '89.
Eight ferrets (-13 centipedes), most of which will not be staying overnight. Think the snow has stopped, but it’snow blowing around like mad.
It was 10f when I left on the shopping trip this morning. The seagulls and geese have joined forces in the parking lot warm spots. Pigeons are huddled up together on sunny spots of roofs and wires.
Due to the cold I went to ikea for the pick up. I could wait in the front entrance and look for the shuttle while being inside. Crossing Delaware avenue was a wind blown adventure. The gusts coming off the river were around 40-50 mph. Due to clearing snow for cars over humans I had to go blocks out of the way. I did get yarn for the nisselue protest hat. Somehow I forgot to get lunch meat and butter…
Back home, cat cuddling and watching documentaries on Netflix.
Howdy Y’all! I spent a couple of hours this mornin’ with a deluge of texts concernin’ Chalice servers for tomorrow (I am Verger so it was my problem), who’s doin’ what for the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper (I am in charge of bacon and snausage), and the schedule plan for the cookin’ for the St. Patrick’s celebration (I am in charge of corned beast and root veggies). This was three separate chats which both confused and wore me out. OYKW ordered the Jack’s burgers and fries and went to pick them up. For a semi-Luddite he’s pretty good with usin’ apps. Nappage occurred after we et. It was nice enough mid-afternoon to sit out on the back porch and ward off scurvy and malaria.
{{{Pavo}}} sorry about your vehicle and glad you weren’t hurt. I had a span of a couple of years when I was sideswiped four times. It got to the point that I was on a first name basis with everyone at Charlie’s Paint and Body. The third time it happened, I walked in and Charlie said, “well damn, I think I should keep various parts for your vehicle in stock.” Gave me a good laugh.
Evening all. Coached my remaining games and decided to subsist on Texas Toast Cheese Bread and Brownies for the evening meal (my stomach will forgive me, I hope). Haven’t done much besides fixing that, been watching You Tubes and reading various rants in the poly-ticks and NSFW sections here. I’m warmer than a lot of you, it’s still 36F outside and due to reach 57F tomorrow, so not too bad.
Pavo, ouch, seeing the damage done it wasn’t a little tap, you got hit good. Glad the cop saw sense and sided with you. Take care, you may be sore tomorrow and get that car checked out soonest.
red, best wishes to SIL, I guess the line for repairs is probably pretty long.
Nut, glad you were able to find a suit, albeit an expensive one. I have 4 pairs of swim trunks from my time spend swimming at the gym, I hardly use them anymore but if I feel like a dip in the whirlpool I’ll take a pair along with me.
Flyboy,
So she wasn’t interested in watching Mercedes-Benz car racing? “look at the S-Car go!!”
We forgot about OJ! If the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit!
TBH I am not sure. I thought I remembered that he was denied an organ transplant because of his risky lifestyle which makes me think he was gay. I’ve known two other men who got denied transplants because they didn’t suddenly turn straight when they were told to.
Thank you, it was fun. James is a good guest and we have wide doors and halls so I thought it would be OK…our dining room table has a center pedestal instead of legs. We had a heck of a time trying to fit his wheelchair in.
Oh gosh, pins in the carpet is why even as a kid, I always wore shoes. Mom was always dropping pins on the carpet and we were finding them with our toes. We would come inside and my sisters would either be barefoot already or would kick their shoes off at the door. Not me. My shoes stayed on my feet because I was a weenie and didn’t like stubbing my toes or getting pins in my feet.
Hmmmm. Are you sure you don’t have big short nosed rats?
Oh dang. I’m glad you are OK, but dang. Ain’t nobody gots time for that!
George doesn’t like the bottom of the bag kibbles either. He knows where the unopened bag is and tries to lead us to it when he needs kibble rubs. Kibble tastes better when he’s getting back scritches while he’s eating, yanno.
I loved seeing that Polish pistol shooter again. All those other folks with special glasses and stances and equipment and he just walks up and shoots like it’s just another Tuesday, no big deal at all. And wins! With no excitement because after all, its just another Tuesday.
I’m so sorry and I’m very glad you are ok. I had 3 cars totaled in less than 4 years, none were my fault (two of them the cars were parked and I was in the house). Those are the preferable kind if it has to happen. I always had to tell myself …”it’s only a car, it doesn’t have feelings, it’s only a car, cars can be replaced”. All three were Hondas, like your cute little Fit. Your insurance company will collect the deductible from the at fault insurance, you won’t have to pay it and fuss with getting reimbursed.
Don’t sign a medical/injury release for a couple months~rear ending accidents are notorious for causing traumatic brain injuries and those can be subtle and take awhile to be recognized, yet they can be life-changing. Don’t believe the malarkey that the other company can’t pay your car damage claim until you sign a medical/injury release. Get your agent to go to bat for you. That’s a lot of damage to your car. At least that much force was transmitted to your brain inside your skull, you just can’t see it. Wait a few months to sign the medical release. Don’t ask me how I know.
Again sorry about your cute little Fit. I tried to find a used Fit after my third Civic was totaled but there were none to be found. I ended up with a Suburu Outback, which I soon loved but the mileage isn’t as good as a Fit.
I had one vehicle that was hit 6 times in 11 years. I got really familiar with various insurance companies, since I wasn’t at fault for any of them.
I remember quite a few football players’ names, considering that I don’t watch regularly. Osmosis for the ones from the sixties and seventies, working in a bar in the eighties, helping hostess tailgate parties at Titans’ games once they came to Nashville and SIL’s company needed someone for that (it came with a seat on the fifty yard line about 12 rows up). Now, I’m beginning to learn a few of the Texans players. When he travels, BIL goes through team areas when he’s describing where he is, eg Texans’ country, Saints’ country, Titans’ country, Colts’ country, Bears’ country.
Remember those big ol’ two colored pick up trucks back in the day? Dad had a red and white one that had invisible paint. We called it Big Red because we were all original like that. It got hit four times in the first year he owned it and five the next year. He got tired of dealing with it and had it painted green and that was even worse cause it got hit on the way out of the body shop.
I was happily stitching when all of a sudden I heard a horn and siren happening in front of the house. I looked out the door glass to see our across the street neighbor slowly and majestically spinning down his driveway to end up in the middle of the highway. He even had his emergency flashers on.
Last year he bought a snowplow attachment for his mower, but I haven’t seen it this year. It didn’t work last year, the mower didn’t have enough traction to climb the ice either and I guess they didn’t figure out a way to make it work. I think I’ll ask Harry to ask them what they want for the snowplow attachment, Hubs has the same mower but we have a flat driveway.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 63 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Verger duty. After that a few of us will make recordin’s of The Stations of The Cross which will be available for anyone who wants to pray the stations durin’ Lent and thereafter I suppose. Any need to feed will be via forage as I intend to be in full RDOS mode the rest of the day.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.
