I’m assuming that Fargo will be back with a new cast at some point. The new season of Longmire will be up on Netflix later this month.
All I am looking forward to is season 5 of Elementary.
We just found this on Netflix and started season one. Not bad, and will likely get better, seeing as it’s gone 96 episodes already.
I’m really looking forward to the second season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which I still think was the best show on television last season. (Disclaimer: I haven’t seen every show. Duh.)
Bull looks awful! But then it’s on CBS and they have Scorpion, and if that stupid piece of crap can survive maybe anything can. Though apparently not Limitless, doggone it.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to Luke Cage, the guardian angel thing with Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, and at least one of the new time travel shows, of which there are apparently four - I shall sample them all and choose.
I would agree. The songs are always a delight, but the show has some very serious things to say. I just noted it’s moved from Monday, which is great.
I’m afraid they are going off a cliff. I fear every episode will be about the old man running the world’s largest criminal syndicate, rather than regular crimes.
But we’ll still watch it.
It sure has. We’ve continued to watch it, and will probably do so this season, at least for a while, but it’s now partly out of habit.
We’ll also watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine when it returns. It’s a bit silly, but we always get some laughs out of it, and some of the characters are very appealing. Love the deadpan Andre Braugher.
I am really liking Donald Glover’s new show, Atlanta, on FX. It’s only a half hour, but it’s smart, funny, and poignant in places. Well worth a look.
Forgot to mention that Better Call Saul will be coming back. And so will Gus, apparently.
I’m not saying that Conviction looks exceptionally promising, but the hotness of Hayley Atwell means that I’m going to give it more chances than it probably deserves. And Timeless is going to earn a look as well. I read some good things from the people behind it. They appear to be thinking beyond a repetitive reset-button formula where every episode is just the bad guy changing a major historical event and the good guys changing it back.
It has Kristen Bell, so I will give it a chance. Did not know until that preview that she is there by mistake.

:dubious:
One person pondered whether there’s such a thing as “the fall season” anymore (because so many new shows begin mid-season these days), no one ever said that TV seasons no longer exist, the thread wasn’t derailed or even disrupted, and there was activity as recently as last night.
I don’t have a clue what the new shows are yet, but I’m looking forward to Lucifer, Elementary, and Big Bang Theory. Those are the only three I watch, usually.
I am looking forward to Superstore and Scream Queens second seasons this year.
Next year The Path and Better Call Saul will be back.
Heads up that Gotham and Big Bang Theory start the 19th

I tend to watch network pilots, so I’ll probably see more than this, but
New shows - in mostly alphabetical order:
[ul]
[li]Atlanta - the first three episodes have been very good with some great moments[/li][li]Conviction - I loved “Agent Carter,” so while this doesn’t look all that good, I’ll give it a chance.[/li][li]Frequency/No Tomorrow - the CW is a weird, weird network that somehow makes shows that I tend to like more than I expect I would. So, maybe these will be like Jane the Virgin/Crazy Ex-Girlfriend/iZombie/Supernatural/the superhero shows and I’ll find them entertaining in spite of my demographic.[/li][li]The Good Place - Good cast and entertaining premise.[/li][li]People of Earth - looks weird but interesting[/li][li]Pitch - I wanted to be a baseball player when I was a little girl. No way on earth would I not give this a chance or three.[/li][li]Speechless - ABC has been doing well with family comedies. This could turn out rather good.[/li][li]This is Us - apparently there’s some kind of huge twist in this one. I want to at least know what it is.[/li][/ul]
Returning (fall) shows:
The CW shows listed above - I’m going to specifically plug"Jane the Virgin" here. It’s actually really good. Yes, it’s got telenovela/soap elements. But the acting is excellent; the writing is very smart, very funny, and very specific; the characters are all fully three-dimensional people, even the ones that on other shows would be throwaway jokes; the narrator (with his chyrons) is hysterical. If you watch nighttime soaps, you definitely should watch this. But also, if you like smart comedy you should try it as well. (I’m surprised that it doesn’t have higher crossover appeal with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.) Give it two episodes.
The family comedies on ABC - all of which are pretty good.
It looks like most of the dramas I watch are midseason or spring.
Saw the pilot episode on my most recent AA flight. The first episode goes back to the Hindenburg explosion. It was okay. Had a Quantam Leap feel to it. I’ll watch it for a few episodes to see how it goes.
It is an odd network, isn’t it? I’m 50 years old, and I can tell that the shows are intended for/geared toward a much younger demographic. But strangely enough, nearly all of my regularly-watched shows are on The CW. It’s like I found a network that accidentally makes shows specifically for my tastes. The only non-CW shows I watch regularly are Gotham (FOX), *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D *(ABC) and The Blacklist [NBC] (Supergirl was on CBS, but now it’s moved over to CW). I’m not including Netflix shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, just network TV.
Ironically, I’ve heard Internet writers who are in CW’s intended demographic describing CW shows as “20-something underwear models brooding in front of cameras”. It would seem almost that CW is aiming at one demographic and hitting another.
I’m 45, and one of my favorite shows is Supernatural: it’s always a little weird when I see Supernatural memes on FB posted by my friend’s 13-year-old daughter. It’s clearly a very popular show among her friends, even though they were only 1 or 2 when it debuted. (Which WOW makes me feel old.)
(The other thing that makes me feel old is that they are all gaga for Jared Padalecki, where I’m more about Jensen Ackles…or Misha Collins…or sigh Jeffrey Dean Morgan.)
I’m 38 and have been watching Supernatural since I was 28. It’s not my favorite show anymore, but it was around season 4 and 5(season 12 is premiering soon) and my wife and I still love it.
