It wasn’t a huge twist, it was a mild twist. They get it out of the way by the end of the pilot and I don’t think they’re going to throw a twist in or have some kind of recurring mystery every week. It was just a pilot gimmick.
Ok show. Not amazing, but reasonably well done.
Did this actually premiere or did you get some sort of preview?
If it premiered, can you spoiler box the twist?
Also I came in to say Pitch. It’s a highly interesting concept and I’m eager to see how they do the baseball scenes.
I watched premiere of This Is Us. It was interesting, but a little too cutesy for me.
The end “twist” is:
The couple having triplets are actually the parents of the three 36-year-olds. Their portion of the story takes place in 1980, while the rest of the story is present-day. They lost one of their triplets and ended up adopting the African-American baby who was left at a fire station.
I watched the first two episodes On Demand and I really liked them. Kristen Bell is well cast, and I liked everyone else in it. I think the regular time will be on Thursday, they are showing the third episode for it tomorrow.
Gonna watch MacGyver tonight. BTW, if you ever wondered what happened to the original, take a peek.
No interest in The Exorcist? That and The Good Place are the ones I plan to check out.
Well, Frasier is arguably the most successful example of a supporting character continuing on after the parent series has ended, but it’s closely rivaled by The Jeffersons, whose parent show was still going strong.
First I’m hearing of it. I’ll definitely check this one out.
Yesbut Cheers had ended.
Notorious, MacGyver, and Bull are all actively bad.
Lethal Weapon is even more underwhelming than you’d expect. But it’s simply not good.
Yeah, Bull* is* bad. Sorry, Michael.
I finally got around to watching the pilot of Designated Survivor. It seems worth keeping an eye on.
Conviction is trying to be an edgy procedural - the pilot was basically Serial - Season 1. It is just not as edgy as it thinks it is and doesn’t really work.
Timeless was silly, but kind of fun. Plus, I like a lot of the cast.
No, as** Elendil’s Heir** puts it, “the yet another Vast Faceless Conspiracy That Threatens Everything We Hold Dear”* part lost me.
Now, if this had been a political show, like West Wing, starting with a interesting twist- that sounds great.
They also dipped into Fantasy when they had all of SCOTUS and Congress there- something that has never happened.
Timeless looks like it will not last long. A knockoff of the Blacklist characters and soooooooo predictable.
We watched the pilot of Conviction.
A woman is roped into exonerating convicted folk on behalf of the DA.
No, that still doesn’t make sense after watching it.
Oh, this is set in NYC, her mother is a senator and her father is ex-POTUS. Completely original right there.
The pilot had good and bad stuff. Too many cast members introduced right away (and a couple of her crew are unnecessary cast bloat). Far too rapid fire dialogue and scene cutting. Hoping that might get fixed.
But still had some good detective-thriller style stuff. We’ll watch another and hope it gets better.
Pilots are weird. Some shows are great right away. Some take a few episodes to jell. This one needs jell but not hopeless.
Dang! I just ran across Scream Queens by accident last night. Love that show. Although ironically sometimes it seems like everyone is yelling too much.
I think this could be the one we’re all talking about - 20 hours ordered by Netflix with the likelihood of more to come:
The Crown: all you need to know about Netflix’s £100 million series
I was reading the first page, and almost quoted my own post there with the comment: That’s me, too!!
I’d watch that… if it wasnt on Netlfix.
