Upcoming Wii games (I do this thread all the time)

I finally watched all the new Wii trailers on the Nintendo last night . . .
HOLY $%^& it’s gonna be a good year for Nintendo!

These games just look absolutely phenomenal.

Metroid: Other M looks like it has a great chance of being my personal favorite Metroid ever. It just looks so damn fun (a theme that keeps recurring on Wii that seems to be lacking from 360 and PS3 . . . )

The Sonic Colors trailer was amazing eyecandy, but I’m reluctant to get too excited because there’ve been awesome trailers for horrible Sonic games before.

Zelda looks cool, of course.

Mario Sports looks like it could go either way, but I think I’ll probably like it.

NBA Jam looks fun. Naturally. Probably only in a multiplayer context, though.

Sin and Punishment looks like it could go either way. Has anyone played the original?

What I think came out of left field and surprised/impressed me most was the new Kirby game. It looks phenomenal! Even if the game play is terrible I think I could just stare at it for hours. This is one (along with Galaxy 1 & 2) to cite when talking to people who think your console has to be powered by jet fuel and testosterone to have good graphics.

I think I’m actually one of the few not drooling about the new Goldeneye. From what I can tell, they haven’t innovated much in the last umpteen years since the first. Same for the new Donkey Kong.

Anyone else excited for this stuff?

What else is there? I feel like I’m forgetting something.

Epic Disney. Looked pretty interesting in Game Informer’s first look a while back, but I haven’t been keeping up.

Oh yeah! :smack:

Looks cool. I haven’t seen much gameplay footage, though.

Goldeneye 007 is being released for the Wii! That would be deserving of a loud ‘fuck yeah!’ if not for the changes to the maps and the characters from the original Rare developed N64 masterpiece. I still have those original maps memorized, like what walls the mines will kill a dude on the other side, where to aim the rocket launcher for that impossibly long arcing shot to take out a sniper, where the body armor is stashed. I loved Goldeneye on the N64. It was truly ahead of its time, and aspects of that groundbreaking game are still used today. Split screen 4-way combat was really fun, since you could see the other perspectives, and of course all the shit talking during the game. One of the very finest video games ever made.

So here we are, finally with a new Goldeneye 007 for the Wii. It will be the game of the year if Activision did their job. Too bad Rare didn’t or couldn’t do it.

Puts a smile on my face just thinking about it!

Fuck yeah!

Goldeneye doesn’t hold up to today’s games. If it’s the same game, it’s a bad, bad idea. I assume there will be buttloads of changes had, which is good.

I never played the original Goldeneye, but from what I understand it’s going to be an update/remake, with some significant differences.

I finally got around to watching the trailer, and yeah, it looks like the same game in a lot of places, at least in the single player. The multiplayer experience wouldn’t stand with today’s offerings. The spawns were set in stone at one location, the proximity mines were too powerful, and so forth.

This game’s success should hinge on its multiplayer experience, but it won’t. Not enough people play online for it to be that big of a matter.

Funniest/jerkwadiest comment on Youtube about Goldeneye: “props to Nintendo for keeping the original graphics.”

Donkey Kong Country Returns looks awesome because it takes the New Super Mario Bros Wii approach to the series. It’s side-scrolling with the Wii Remote held sideways and has all the barrels and mine carts that made the SNES game awesome. I truly can’t wait.

I also played the first Sin & Punishment (it’s available on the Virtual Console even though the N64 game was never released in America) and its pretty fun. But there was definitely a “Playing this with the Classic Controller is wrong” feeling. I’d imagine the game was more fun with an N64 controller and I hope playing a native Wii game in the series will fix that.

Other fun games I’m looking forward to include Star Wars: Force Unleashed II and MDK 2 on WiiWare.

To be honest, I was just a little bit let down by NSMBW, and I don’t think I’ll be as forgiving to a similar entry in a series I didn’t enjoy as much in the first place. Not that it won’t be awesome for DK fans - it probably will be - I just don’t envision it pleasing me.

How exactly did it let you down? My only gripe was that the controls didn’t seem as flawlessly tight as they were in the originals, but it was still loads of fun.

Don’t get me wrong-- I liked it. I posted about this at the time, when it was fresher in my memory, but from what I remember, I agreed about the controls and also thought the level design and powerups could’ve been a little more creative. The propeller hat was kind of cool at times but it was a step backwards from the cape in NSMBW’s spiritual predecessor. I also kind of felt like it should’ve been a $39.95 or even $29.95 game since they didn’t put the time and effort into that they did with something like Mario Galaxy.

Hmmm, I can agree with that. Bowser at the end totally made up for all though, for me
