YAY! I’m so glad you finally saw this, Demo! It sounds like you’re doing a great job reviving your plants. Sometimes nothing can be done, so don’t beat yourself up if they have to be sent to heaven’s garden, ok? Maybe I’ll grind up the shells I have, give it a try, and let you know the results, so if it works you can try it.
You are so right about the Glade Plug-ins. I love those things. I also have them in every room. And in the bedroom I have a double one!
As for the quitting smoking, I’m on my 4th day now! Come visit my topic The Great Straight Dope SMOKE-OUT Topic if you want to read some really encouraging posts from the amazing people on this board. It just might inspire you to do it sooner than later. 3 other people hopped on the wagon after reading that topic – you could be next!
I’ve been smoke-free now for 3 days, 17 hours, 40 minutes and 26 seconds. I’ve foregone 44 cigarettes and saved $6.95. I’ve added 3 hours, 40 minutes to my life! Zyada, don’t be scared. You’ll be so much happier once it sinks in that you’re not pissing your money away in rent, lining someone else’s pockets instead of your own. Congrats on doing it on your own and best of luck to you in your new home!
Sounds good Shayna, let me know about those shells. As for the smoking, that will have to wait at least one more week, as I am going to be drinking Coronas in Cabo San Lucas for a week starting Saturday. I can’t imagine the horror of trying to quit in the midst of that… Keep up the good work! Hopefully I’ll be joining your ranks soon.
Cabo San Lucas sounds like a blast, Demo. And no way would I be able to quit under those circumstances. Party on, and smoke a few for me, will ya?
And whenever you’re ready, just pop on into that topic and we’ll all help support your effort. I’ll even be the one to ‘sponsor’ you on your first day.
Sorry, had to be done. Anyway, yeah, I went to the audiologist and she told me I had the hearing of an 18 year old. My tubes and whatnot were all opening and closing like little dickenses and she had no explanation for it. It just sort of stopped all by itself some days after and I didn’t really even notice it until I was all “hey, my ears weren’t stoppoed up this morning! And they weren’t yesterday morning or the morning before that either.” Strangely enough, as you’re asking, on my way home from class I was chewing gum and the ear started to itch and stop up again. it’s clear now but it itches, so we’ll see what happens tomorrow morning.
In other news, I scored an A in my Business Law class (443 points out of 450) and I pulled down 110 points out of 100 (ten points extra credit without even asking) on my paper on same-sex marriage for my Family Law class which I wrote in place of taking the final exam. I have two more documents to produce for my project in that class then I’m done. I’m predicting a B only because my documents aren’t going to be stellar. I also had a job interview this week where the interviewer didn’t seem to have any doubt that she would offer me a job, but was instead having trouble deciding which of seven in my field I’d be most suited for.
Thanks for asking, I’d have replied sooner but I wasn’t checking this thread until alerted to some statements made by a certain person who shall remain nameless until I copy and paste his damn quote.
Speaking of marriage…
Flinx
Ya know, I could go the rest of my life without your opening your mouth like this again. I’m not gay because women are “bad.” I’m gay because I’m attracted to men. My two best friends are women and I like them just fine. I just don’t want to screw them. If you’re not gay or attracted to men then bully for you. But I thought you had agreed quite some time ago to knock off this kind of nonsense. You claim you’re happy with whatever your sexual orientation is; so am I and I’ll thank you not to insult me by making the kind of flippant half-assed comments like the one quoted above. And for the record, a big green toothy smilie doesn’t make the insult any more palatable.
Wow, Otto, that’s a lot of great news all in one post! Congrats on all of it. You must be very proud of your accomplishments.
Oh, and about you getting 110/100 on your paper – my father used to get so indignant when I’d get scores higher than 100 on exams and such. He’d always tell me about how when he was in school, he wasn’t even allowed to score 100. One of his teachers gave him a 99 on a test even though he’d answered every question right. When he asked why, the teacher simply responded, “No one gets 100 on my tests!” Times sure have changed.
zyada, WOO HOO!!! Now when do you move in? We’ll have to have a house warming party for you on the board!
Sorry, Otto. Didn’t mean to insult you or anything. I just wanted to express my happiness with Rose. If I offended, I apologize. I didn’t realize my remarks would be taken as insults. On the contrary, I thought I’d share the happiness I’ve found with Rose, that’s all.
And by the way, in case anyone is interested, Rose is moving to Utah in a month so we can be together and date! Now before someone complains that I shouldn’t be so happy with this news and that I must not use smilies, let me just say that the thread’s name is “Updates, please,” and this is an update from an earlier thread.
