So, where is everyone??? Just came in from garden. It’s supposed to be in the upper 70s, but it feels hotter. Taking a book back to the library, then I’ll go vacuum the interior of the car, then wash the darn thing. Fun!
My weird dream of the night involved Ronald Regan, Johnny Carson and indoor while water rafting. Then I dreamed I had been driving the cab of a tractor trailer with no trailer and I had parked it somewhere and couldn’t find it.
Getting ready for the Chief’s wedding at the Mayberry fire station, then we go to the funeral home for the EMT whose son was killed Thursday AM. Later…
Olives and hot chocolate… YUM! What’s next a martini with little teeney marshmallows? Oh well, people do worse to martinis these days.
I’m sneakin’ in a post from sis’s puter. It’s hot outside! Party starts up for real sometime around sixish. Until then we’re all sittin’ around chillin’.
Back from getting my hair to look normal again. Yay. I was going to meet my friend for an early dinner, but she had some family crap to take care of. There’s always next week.
As for olives and chocolate - if it’s unsweetened, and has some nice capsaicin spice, it might be good, but they’d have to be good quality olives, not the green salty briney plastic cocktail ones.
Home. Sunburnt. Pooped. Heading out for dinner. You’ll just have to wait for the next MMP to find out about the show. **FCD ** took some pics, so there’s that to look forward to.
Got another one of those under the bed drawers - now we have matching drawers me & the Wife.
I bought cat toys at Tar-Jay, I usually let them play with just whatever and don’t buy them packaged toys. I must have had a moment of weakness. There’s this kind of an accordion-ish tunnel thingee that Scarlett seems to like.
The boys love those cardboard scratchy things - you’ve seen them. The last one they had was trashed so I tossed it pre-painters.
I improvised at the grocery store for dinner, and I must say it turned out yummy. I bought a hunk of flank steak, marinated it an hour or so in lime, oregano, garlic, olive oil, and black pepper then plopped them on the grill. The last few minutes they cooked, I made some garlic toasted sammich rolls and served it up.
Home, fed, and in my robe for the evening. If I feel up to it tomorrow, I’ll be going to the boat to sand teak. We shall see. For now, I just want a good night’s sleep.
And chocolate. Chocolate would be nice. Hold the olives.
Well, I’m home from work. It went better than I hoped, except for the asthma attacks, and a bit of acid reflux. I didn’t get a pony, either. The last weird dream I had was the bear (N.O.B.) sleeping in my bed with the other pets.
Rosie, they make orange chocolate, so lemon might be good. Choco olives, though? :dubious:
Glad class went well, rigs. Are you going to pull a Haze on us tonight?
MBG, Lucretia only plays with used dental floss. And the dog’s stuffed duck.
Today I found and purchased some Jello Pudding Pops after not having seen them for many years. Either they changed the recipe or they’re just plain not as good as I remembered them
Sorry for deserting you, rosie, but I was well and truly beat last night. We watched a little TV in bed - I bet not even 30 minutes - then it was snoozeland for both of us. I don’t think I woke all night, although I have a vague recollection of seeing the clock at 1:14 Aside from that, I made it all the way to 5:30, and I’m feeling pretty rested. Still achy, but rested.
It’s a lovely cool morning, and after taking the critters out, I came in and opened the house. I may get away with leaving it open - it’s supposed to be relatively cool today - low 80s at most. I still haven’t decided about going to the boat. Frankly, I would rather just go empty the V-berth, then come home. I don’t think I’m up to sanding, but I wouldn’t object to sewing the sail cover and a few other things at home. Must discuss with my sweetie.
My baby sent me the flight info for their visit next month. Turns out, they’re flying standby ( that’s the reason future son-in-law’s brother could get them the super-cheap tickets) but they’re also flying on Wednesdays. Just for giggles, I went to the airline website to “book” a couple of tickets - and they’ve still got seats on those flights for this week available, so that’s encouraging. Still, we told them they should have a back-up plan, in case they can’t get back home. If they can’t get here in the first place, it would suck, but at least they’d be at home.
So, happy Sunday, all! I should probably start drafting tomorrow’s MMP. It won’t be posted tonight, since I don’t stay up late enough (although I will be watching the Sopranos finale) but I’ll have it up around 5 Eastern Time tomorrow. Apologies to the MMPers across the pond and beyond, but disappointments build character. Really! Would I lie? No, I would not lie. Because I’m nice, dammit!
Yesterday I took Lucy to the vet again. (This is getting expensive!) She simply has not been herself and I was getting very worried.
The doc (my favorite one) said Lucy was still running a fever, but not as high as before. She said that Lucy was in a lot of pain in her legs. She thought that it was not a reaction to the heartworm preventative. She wasn’t sure, but that it might be a reaction to getting all her shots, in particular the distemper one. Rarely, a dog might have a reaction, if it’s their second round. With Lucy being a stray, it’s quite possible she had her vaccines before I found her.
So, Dr McLemore gave her a sub-cue (sub-Q?) injection (under the skin) of an anti-inflammatory, and some prednisone pills. It was a miracle! After a few hours, she came looking for me in the kitchen - wanting a snack! Woo-hoo! Her appetite has been terrible. Then she was playing with Ernie! Ernie was literally jumping for joy to have his buddy back. She is still resting a lot, but feels so much better! She ran to her food bowl this morning, just like her old self.
I’m almost crying typing this. I hated her feeling so bad.
**Dolores **-- it’s subcutaneous. Don’t ask me if the shorthand is spelled “sub-cue” or “sub-Q” or some other way – I’m not a vet! Anyway, more importantly than what it is or how it’s spelled – it worked!
**FCM **-- how you manage to *stay *nice (dammit! :D) after getting up 5:30 Sunday morning is beyond me… I’m cranky when I have to get up at 8 on [Saturday] Morning!
Y’all went to sleep so early (well, except for Haze, of course :p)… it’s lonely in here!
