On the evening of January 6, in the aftermath of the Capitol riots, Donald Trump’s fave toady, Lindsey Graham, said this: “All I can say is, count me out. Enough is enough. … It is over.”
To me that sounded like this unabashed lickspittle was giving up either the lick or the spittle or both.
That was 11 days ago, which is apparently the maximum amount of time Graham can live outside of Donald Trump’s rectum sans life support before the “do not resuscitate” order kicks in. Because this morning on Fox News, he was dry-humping Trump’s evaporating ghost like it was still the good ol’ days.
…
Note to self: do not read part I bolded with a mouthful of coffee.
GRAHAM: “It was horrendous to see people come and take over the Capitol, the House and the Senate, beat officers, defile the seat of government — how the hell could that happen? Where was Nancy Pelosi, it’s her job to provide Capitol security. We’ll get to the bottom of that.”
Where was Nancy Pelosi? Good question. I’m pretty sure she was hiding from a murderous mob that Donald Trump had sent to kill her, but nice try.
…
Don’t give us too much credit. We still have a big chunk the Sedition Caucus - Biggs, Gosar, Lesko, and Schwiekert, plus Governor Weather Vane, who thinks covid masks are an affront to LIBERTY, but also that we have too much covid. But not enough that we need to close businesses.
And don’t get me started on state politics. We have openly racist state reps, plus a guy who was involved with human trafficking.
So yes, Q, there IS government-run sex trafficing. And it’s the repubs doing it.
The FBI is running checks on the 20K ish national guard troops at the capital, because they fear an inside attack. Now that’s a bit more scary. Having our own troops assassinate the President is really third-world-shithole-ish.
And worse, can we trust the FBI? How about the Secret Service?
I wonder if that part of that advice involves getting there via Virginia. Virtually all of the bridges directly into DC will close tomorrow morning and remain closed for the duration; only Key Bridge (between Rosslyn & Georgetown) and Chain Bridge (way up by DC’s western corner) will remain open, AFAIK.
Well, there HAS BEEN (and not actually sex trafficking, more like baby-selling). Anyhow, after his October, 2019 indictment, he pleaded guilty in June of last year, and started serving a six-year sentence in December.
I believe in calling a shithole a shithole. And under Trump we were certainly headed towards shithole territory.
(Please note that I do NOT consider most other countries to be shitholes. Very few, in fact. Mostly North Korea and some pretty nearly lawless places.)
The suspect was arrested after a GPS device he wears as part of his probation following a fourth degree burglary conviction tracked him to being at the Capitol on January 6. The GPS was able to place Betancur in the vicinity of the building from between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Variations on “y’all Qaida” are clever and amusing, but considering the middle-to-upper-class demographic of the Trump cult, as clearly exposed by the ongoing Capitol Riot arrests (not to mention by all the polls and surveys over the last few years, for anyone paying attention), the suggestion that this group can be characterized as fringe rednecks is inaccurate, bordering on dangerously misleading. I did laugh, initially, but at this point I’d like to see the stereotype retired, because its persistence creates a risk of failing to understand the true nature of the insurrectionist phenomenon.
In the UK angry white right wingers are called “gammon” due to their flushed expressions. I thought it was a new term (and in many ways it is) but it’s usage in this sort of manner goes back to at least the 17th century
This OP is pretty sure there won’t be any more morons stirring up shit at the capitol any time soon, so, mods - feel free to close this.
Thanks everyone for contributing.
