US Midterm Election watch along thread

Thank you.

Man, I think I can happy-cry now!!!

Hoyle by 24,000 with 75% of votes counted.

In SW Washington’s 3rd district, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D) is currently leading Joe Kent (R) 53-47 with 59% or so of votes tallied. If that were to hold, that would flip this district from R to D.

Joe Kent beat incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler in the primary. She was one of the House Republicans to vote for Trump’s impeachment.

One wrinkle in the current vote total is that Kent has been telling his supporters to wait until today to cast their ballots, citing concerns with election integrity.

He also apparently might have held a rally within 100 feet of a ballot dropbox tonight… that’s against state law.

Fannnnnnnnnnnnntastic!!! I’m sorry about the 5th, though. But it’s better than a Republican governor or Skarlatos in Congress.

Has this race been called? I’ve been monitoring the results the past couple of hours, and the margin has been getting closer as each new precinct reports. It’s down to a 2.2% lead right now with 94% reporting.

Reporting is that the far right on the internet is a bit catatonic. There are mutterings that Fox News is not reporting correctly, they are not believing the results.

Interesting, but NYT thinks Kent is still very likely to win.

We will see if that changes with more of the vote coming in.

Warnock in the lead again with 49.4%/96% reported…inching up toward 50%, but with votes running out.

Nevada is at 1 % reporting.

Part of that has to be that they brought back the guy that made them all mad last time, Mishkin, right?

MSNBC reports on crudités, pronounced cru-di-tes, and everyone at the desk seems to know what they are.

MSNBC calls Pennsylvania for Fetterman!!

I just looked in on a right-wing message board. They’re crowing over how Republicans have taken the House. No cites, of course; par for the course over there.

Anyway, I don’t know where they got that idea from, but if they believe that Fox is not reporting correctly, I can only assume that they’re turning to even more questionable right-wing sources (OANN, Newsmax, etc.).

ETA: CNN is reporting Republicans at 190 House seats as I type this. A far cry from “Republicans have taken the House!” as they claim.

Ohio is fucked. Fucked fucked fucked. Red all the way up and down (except my House rep Emilia Sykes) We had two confusing constitutional ballot measures which were Conservative measures on bail and voter registration that passed overwhelmingly. Red Secy of State, judges, auditor…. All of them.

I love being an Ohioan with all my heart but it’s a sad day for Ohio women, like myself.

Occasionally, I wish that there were a legal way to ban 3rd parties from running. This is one of those times.

Fetterman!!! The senate is at 47-46.

Veggie platters for all!

No, it hasn’t been called. I’m being optimistic I guess.

There’s an ‘Independent’ GOP state senator running for governor in Kansas. With 95% of the vote counted, he’s garnered 2% of the vote. Right now, Democrat incumbent Laura Kelly has a 2.7% lead over AG GOP Derek Schmidt. Right now I’m real happy that this independent clown is running, as he’s siphoning GOP votes, IMO.

And that’s a libertarian siphoning votes in Georgia, and I’ll sure as hell take that.

The problem isn’t third party candidates, it’s antiquated counting systems. Just let third-party votes be reallocated. Or better yet, go to proportional representation - but that would require big changes.

Also, laws like Georgia’s “must have 50%” that were very explicitly created to hurt black candidates are also a problem, but America is pretty slow to recognize things like that.
