US Nuland caught on tape: **CK the EU!

Victoria Nuland ROFL

You know, if the protesters eventually win (and I hope they do, because their government is quite objectively terrible), there’s going to be a lot of akwardness when they suddenly realize nobody *asked *or offered them to join the EU at any point. It’s kind of like watching a couple of bums thumping on each other in front of a posh disco, arguing over who gets to enter first, while the bemused bouncer goes “Look, dudes, not to be a dick or anything but…”

As for the OP, it’s going to take more than that to make us hate the US. Well, actually we already hate the US, but we make a lot of money pretending to agree with them. Needs must when the Devil drives, and that.

Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State.

What exactly is the debate here?

America: is it the worst country in history, or is it the most terrible country in history?

So far? Nothing.

False dichotomy.

Fallacy of the excluded middle. Most worst country in history.

You know, the irony quotient on this is pretty much off the scale considering the wars Europe managed to drag us into in the past. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any wars we dragged them into kicking and screaming, though I assume the OP means Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. Obviously hyperbole and scale are a major factor in this rant.

I’ll be holding my breath for the Europeans to begin revising the alliance. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve got to agree. No debate. I’ll send it off to the Pit for more energetic snarkiness.

Pretty sure the Europeans (specifically the UK and France) dragged the US into Libya, and it was France’s fault the US got into Vietnam in the first place. The US does get credit for both Gulf Wars and Afghanistan though.

tut tut those ‘French’.

Yes they did. These protests are about an affiliation treaty Ukraine was scheduled to sign with the EU.

I’m failing to see an issue of any kind with it. Isn’t this getting to be pretty much a rallying cry all over Europe these days?

So you have no salient point to make except to sit on the side and throw out meaningless snide commentary like an angry beer soaked lout.

American foreign policy has always been transparently cynical in this regard. The US government has never had any qualms about ousting democratic governments if it’s perceived as being in our national interest.

And your point is …? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m partial to braised, beer soaked lout, personally (myself, I would rather taste the fear than the anger, so it’s all in how you go about harvesting the lout to improve the final product). It’s even better than a MLT (mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, ‘where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They’re so perky, I love that…’).

something to do with “dragging” and “kicking and screaming”. It’s all very visual.

I wish the US would stop trying to secretly interfere in places that have little to do with us

OR

I wish the US would just come right out and say we believe Ukraine’s government is illegal and will not recognize it

Ftr, I resent “meaningless”.
