USA 2025 Inauguration

Interesting. My ex-husband was a college professor, and the synopses look pretty realistic, not that anybody on the faculties of the colleges ever gave a Nazi salute in class.

I don’t think any politician or leader should ever be celebrated like this. Whether they are someone I respect or a dangerous agent of chaos and greed, I don’t think this is a healthy social action.

I realize it is an ancient human ritual, but I do not think much of any ritual. Speeches good or bad, I think are pretentious fluff and of little real value, to me anyway. Yes I realize great speaches have inspired and even been valued for various reasons.

Maybe I am spectrum, or missing some awareness or connection that I should, but I really dont like it.

Perhaps he thinks if he doesn’t touch the Bible the oath doesn’t take?

My money’s on germophobia.

(and that was pre-COVID!)

I have felt this way before, back when the second plane hit the World Trade Center.

He’s been a germophobe for decades. Given that, I was surprised he actually ran the first time.

The oath doesn’t mean jack anyway.

Did you see any of the clips of all the super-rich guys fidgeting on stage like a bunch of toddlers?

These guys are like Trump on steroids. They’re so rich, they literally never have to do anything they don’t want to do. Any activity they engage in starts exactly when they want it to, and ends the exact second they get bored of it. They’ve lost any tolerance for mild inconvenience they might ever have had.

So having to hold still for a couple of hours while someone that isn’t them does something is excruciating.

Their hair is the same way. They have no sense of what they look like, because they don’t have to. There’s a reason the only ones without bad hair are the ones who are completely bald.

What surprised me was how he completely fucked up COVID. I’d have given good odds on a pandemic being the one crisis he wouldn’t mess up, as it aligned so well with his pre-existing personality problems.

Alas, no such luck.

I bet he just forgot he was supposed to. He’s waved Bibles around before.

Yup, and he wanted to salute to make himself look like big tough military person.

Wasn’t it his mother’s bible? Presumably he could get that one disinfected as much he liked.

I’m sure he could get the swearing-in bible disinfected, too. I think the person being sworn in generally supplies the one they want to use.

Pope talks out of both sides of his mouth at once.

Pope Francis congratulates Trump but calls mass deportation plan a “disgrace”

It’s not talking out of both sides of your mouth to pray that God grants your enemies wisdom. Wisdom to do the right thing and not the thing they said they were going to do.

Indeed, Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

I saw it live. Her hat brim was in the way. People chuckled.

But what I want to know is, does Christie Brinkley want it back?

Yeah, I don’t see the inconsistency either.

hat enforced social distancing.

I saw on BlueSky that Jewel apparently performed at a party for RFK Jr. and Cheryl Hines. Given what RFK Jr.'s plans are, I certainly hope Jewel has taken some time to study the definition of “casualty.”

She was just there to show that RFK’s contempt for medicine includes dentistry (I’m a mean person)
