my turning to the comedy channel was thwarted. 2 people went in to watch the inauguration.
ah, fetterman, stay you.

Trump is still talking. I guess he could only try to seem reasonable for a short time. Also I can’t hate on Fetterman. I may not agree with all his opinions but I do appreciate his commitment to comfortable clothing.
Has he talked about all of the American Carnage? The migrants eating the dogs and the cats?
Have you checked the luncheon menu?
Well we got a emphatic couple of Nazi salutes from Musk on day one, so that’s a start.
Trump’s inaugural address was pretty dark. I don’t think Lincoln was that dark during the Civil War nor Wilson during the First World War or FDR during the Second World War.
My wife played the playback, and I heard most of it. Not sure it was quite as dark as his first one.
Couple thoughts - I’m sure glad I’m not gay/trans.
Sure wants to go all in on fossil fuels, huh?
I’m not sure how many 10s of thousands of issues I would wish to have addressed before “Gulf of America” made it to the top of my list.
So much talk. Now let’s see what gets done.
I thought SNL’s cold open was spot on Sat, with their newscast being continually interrupted with Trump’s inanities. I’m going to do my best to not play into that.
That open was sooo very funny.
This is actually why I came to this thread. I read on several sites that Musk appeared to give the Nazi salute, so I watched a video clip of it. It was, indeed, the Nazi salute. He held his hand over his heart, and with a grunt, flung that arm, palm down, at the angle of the Nazi salute. Then he turned and did the same thing without the grunt for those behind him.
“Hmm,” I thought, " he was talking about his heart and his heart flying out to you, so maybe that’s what he intended by the gesture."
Then I realized that only an idiot even more idiotic than Musk wouldn’t recognize that it’s the same gesture.
What do the rest of you think?
ETA: I apologize if this post is off-topic. I read the whole thread, but while the title indicates a general discussion of the 2025 inauguration, the first post establishes that this is supposed to be about favorite parts of presidential inaugurations in general, so I’m not sure.
I think that no matter how anyone tries to defend it, we all know that after Hitler, no one does anything even close to this without knowing what it looks like.
He meant it. It’s him being a teenage “edge lord” again.
I went looking for this and found this 38-second YouTube clip from PBS NewsHour. Sure looks like a Nazi salute. Wonder how Fox News will explain it?
The richest man in the world gave a Nazi salute on MLK Jr Day.
But if you show any concern about this you’re just hysterical.
I should have supplied a link, so thanks for doing so. I doubt Fox News shows it or even mentions it.
Good point.
Remember the good ol’ days when someone giving the Nazi salute would have been booed off the stage and out of the political arena?
BTW, I didn’t notice this but the NYT noted that Trump didn’t put his hand on the Bible while taking the oath? Fearful of getting burned perhaps?
Also, does Musk know his hair goes all the way around his head? I’ve seen 1st graders comb their hair better than that.
You don’t get to a 400 billion dollar fortune by wasting money on combs.
Who was watching the bands next to DJT? Carmen SanDiego?
Hell, it was just four years ago that Netflix made a whole six-episode dramedy about a college professor losing his job for making a Nazi salute in class:
Was busy working during the whole shebang, but heard (on news radio) Trump was sworn in without putting his hand on a bible.
