Everybody IRL calls me badger, it was my handle back in the old BBS days(late 70’s). When I went to sign up on this board, some thoughtless jerk had used badger already, but never posted anything…So i used the abreviations I used to use on old video game high score tables and BBS’s that only allowed a few characters for user name…Kind of regret it now…
A lot of people think I’m some sort of theatre nerd or something. THespos isn’t a play on “Thespian” or anything like that. It’s simply my first initial and my last name. Pronounced “Tee Hess Poase.”
Funnily enough, I always see the name as un-civil-ly. I figured he must be really rude and…um… uncivilized?
I always see samarm as sam-aram, and I for some reason pronounce alphagene like al-FAG-ne.
I keep seeing lno as “ino,” but I’m getting a handy mnemonic: “'ell no!,” like a chimney sweep.
I see Mangeorge as “mange ogre” which is wrong on so many levels.
i always readunclivny as “uncle vinny” for some reason
Depending (I think … been a while) on which person you take “mange” as … first or third, it either means (with accompanying subject pronoun) “I eat everything” or “s/he/it eats everything”.
If I’m misremembering about the S, though, it’s moot.
I always see it as referring to mangy trout
I also think that:
- CrazyCatLady
- CrankyAsAnOldMan
- MeanOldLady
all live together in a big house, with funny smells, and cats everywhere.
I am not, and never have been, jjimm.
I am also not, nor have ever been, Chef Troy. (I’m looking at you, #straightdope!)
(See sig if you don’t get this first one.)
That’s how I always read it!
Ugol’s Law (in it’s more general form) strikes again.
Those are different people?!
I gotta go lie down.
When my username is discussed (which it rarely is), people seem to think it has something to do with salt or with tires. It doesn’t.
Until that strange game a while back that placed usernames in catogories, I didn’t “get” Sue Dunnym’s user name. Honestly, it never even crossed my mind that it was a play on words, perhaps because I had no idea how to pronounce the “surname”. :smack:
elfkin477- Whenever I see your name I always think of a really old elf, or pixie (for some reason).
Perhaps you are related to an elf?
Actually, that’s the idea, well, besides the old part. The nickname is in homage to a childhood friend’s conviction that there is elf-blood somewhere in my lineage. What a weirdo
Maeglin will always be Magellan to me.
They are "N"s, not "L"s. There are "L"s, but only two. Not four. There are no references to trees in my username.
Every time I see a post by superbee, I wonder, just for a second, why I don’t remember writing it.
I’ve confused mangeorge with Mangetout.
What’s the story with this 12th century Dangerosa?
I’ve given up correcting people about my user name. Sure, they’re zeros, not the letter “o”. But you can call me “Dave Woo” if you want. Plenty of people do.
