V’s second season starts tonight. So when we left off; Val was put down shortly after giving birth, Lisa’s now 5th Column, all but 12 of Anna’s warrior eggs were destroyed, Anna’s turned Earth’s skies red, and Joshua’s just been revived by Marcus. Did I leave anything out?
Oh, and Jane Badler will have a recurring role this season as Diana, Anna’s mother. That should be good.
Is that the original Diana? I love this show… When I was little I used to play V after watching the original show. My best friend and I would take turns being Diana and Lydia.
Deep withing the bowels of the mothership, in a swampy chamber (I assume designed after their homeworld), out of a cocoony thing pops Diana in full human form wearing a red dress and high heeled shoes! That was one of the best shots of the show so far.
I found a couple scenes so jarringly bad I spent the next few minutes contemplating the unbridled badness instead of watching the show. The first was the scene outside the university. Pure exposition to catch up people who just tuned in, and not one single word was said like an actual human being would talk in that situation.
The next was the blocking of our interpid heroes during their conversation (which was also badly written, btw) with the scientist guy from Grounded For Life and Reaper. (I love that guy.) Just the way they all sat down to listen, or turn to the screen; every action they did screamed “bad highschool theater blocking” to me.
Other than that I liked it fine. Oh yeah, I also missed a few minutes after Laura Vandervoort took off her clothes. For some reason all the blood rushed out of my head…
I enjoyed it a lot. I loved that we are seeing more of the V’s natural form. First the creepy tank baby, then the solider hands, the V skeleton, and finally the unmasked V! And the Diana actress as Anna’s Mom is very cool too. And I love reaper guy as the new team mate, although it seems for him to be telling them things he figures out about the Vs that presumably their own V guy should just know…
I didn’t like that right after V guy is let go, Erica is wandering around with him in plain sight.
That skeleton would never fit under a human skin, the frigging skull is bigger than a human head.
Of course, when Anna ripped that dude’s face half off, his lizard face seemed bigger than his human face, so it really doesn’t make sense.
Nice to see Reaper on the show, hopefully he’ll stick around.
It’s the same actress who played Diana on the original V, if that’s what you meant, but not the same character, if that’s what you meant, because the original series and this one are not connected.
It’s funny, you’d think when I first saw Reaper guy I wuld have immediately thought that of course he was the one they were looking for, not his boss. Instead, I thought how much it sucks that his career has tanked so badly that he was reduced to a meaningless cameo on a struggling show. I was thrilled when it turned out I was wrong.
Speaking of not fitting in human skin, what really stood out to me were the sickly soldier’s fingers. Maybe being soldiers they have different bodies, or maybe their fingers only extend to inside the palm and the human fingers are prosthetics. In any case, no way do those fingers map to human fingers.
If the red rain (is coming down, coming down all over me…) is concentrated Phosphorus, one of the side effects will be major algal blooms in freshwater bodies of water, possibly in salt water as well
Choking algal blooms in ponds and lakes, red tide in the ocean… more than likely a deliberate effect, not a side effect
“Oh, you say that red sky and the the rain of blood was actually a good thing? You mean it helps plants grow and… other stuff? Oh, okay then, we’ll completely forget that you did it without asking us and then hid in your ships for four days. We won’t even bother verifying that what you’re saying is true, 'cause we’re just that stupid.”
So… no one else is curious about Erica’s admission that she’d had elevated phosphorus levels during her pregnancy with Tyler? They spent a lot of time last season angling towards Tyler-is-special, from Anna’s interest in him to his mysterious paternity, so are we to believe that Tyler’s real dad was a visitor? If so, why such interest in Ryan’s baby, considering Anna clearly thinks that Tyler is somehow important? Is she just hoping no one else will realize there’s been a hybrid before?
I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. Tyler is a human whose phospor levels were raised so that he could impregate the hottie visitor. (They were probably hoping Erika had a girl.)
That’s funny that you give the writers anywhere near the credit to know that, or at very least care about it if they did. Didn’t they just confirm via blood test that Erika’s phosphor levels from 18 years ago (while she was pregnant with her teenage son) were elevated?
