VA senate seat: Looks like Webb is toast to me

nitpick: his ex-wife.

It’s right in the video RT linked. Because of the way CNN spliced the audio, it’s not clear exactly what the protester was saying before he was accosted, but it’s pretty clear that he didn’t ask the question until after that happened. Moreover, it seems clear that even the assaulters thought that was the order of events (note how they say “now you’re getting personal” after the protester asks about Allen’s first wife).

Another piece of evidence that it wasn’t anything that Stark actually said in this instance that triggered the assault: Allen knows Stark. They’ve had previous non-violent confrontations before. Stark was actually the blogger who pushed Allen’s past habit of using the n-word out into public view. So Allen is quite clear on who this person is.

BTW, you should all check this out.

As of 8:16 p.m. Tuesday, still too close to call.

What a squeaker! I wonder if this one will wind up in court?

As of right now Allen is up by 29,000 with 95% of the precincts reporting.

“As of right now” means nothing in this race. Allen’s been up for most of the night, but I’m pretty sure his lead has never been close to 1%; rounding falsely implies otherwise.

His lead is gone at the moment, just to update.

I never implied “as of right now” meant anything other than “as of right now.”

These were the numbers reported on CNN.com at one point:

As of right then his lead was at 30,376 which was around 1.5% at that time.

What’s important, obviously, is which precincts had not yet reported in, and when I made my post @95% reporting most of the precincts in and around Richmond had not reported in yet, and Richmond is a stronghold for the Democrats and is a large city.

In other news, the GOP has a comfortable lead now in Tennessee and Missouri, meaning the Republicans will most likely have 50 Senate seats (assuming Allen actually loses) and thus will maintain control of the Senate.

The Associated Press map just started to show Webb up by about 3,000 votes.

I think counting has stopped for the evening. Here’s what’s still out there:

Fairfax County: 1 precinct still out, and according to MSNBC it’s Webb Country and worth 33K votes.

Arlington County: 1 precinct still out. Not sure how many votes, but it’s Webb-heavy.

Richmond City: 4 precincts still out, area favors Webb by 3:1

Absentee ballots have been counted, only provisionals are outstanding.

Webb has been pulliing steadily ahead for the last 3%, with gathering momentum.

Webb (D) c.550 votes ahead with 99.47% counted.

According to TPM, Webb has declared victory. I’m not finding the CNN story.

Virginia - Webb up by 6,931 votes and here’s what’s still out:

Fairfax City 6 out of 7 counted. Leans slightly D

Halifax County 21 out of 22 counted. Leans moderately R

Isle of Wight County 12 out of 13 counted. Leans slightly R

James City County 11 out of 16 counted. Leans moderately R

Loudon County 57 out of 58 counted. Leans slightly D

I have to say that if Allen loses it will be the cherry on top of the Dem victory. Allen is obviously a sicko and a bully and America can do without him smarming around and angling for the highest office in the land.

Oh, even if Allen wins, he’s not going to stand a chance next presidental election.

…yes, yummy toast with raspberry preserves smothered perfectly even all over its surface.

Many are saying that Webb has pulled off the victory.

Yes, but will this victory backfire on him?

Furthermore, will the landslide Democratic victory across the country backfire on the Democratic party?

Wish I’d thought of it first.

I guess Webb and his wife, who is Vietnamese-American apparently, can now celebrate with a round of baby dick.

I just have to say: THANK YOU REPUBLICAN BLOGSOPHERE!!! You guys may have tiny feet, but you still managed to shoot them.
