I don’t think either Mance or Rhaegar are supposed to be legendary fighters. Rhaegar had one good day at jousting, but so did Jorah Mormont. Mance beat up Jon Snow, but he’s like 15 or 16, big deal. Certainly there’s no indication that either are on the level or close to Barristan, Arthur Dayne, Jaime Lannister, Loras Tyrell, or Sandor Clegane.
I assume you mean a warg and not a targ…?
Targ being a targaryen.
Anyway, the other theories, well, their theories. I like them. It’s one of those things which is joining the dots with the books certainly. Some of the pre clash of kings theories were mental.
I like the ones which are interesting, but kind of pointless:
This may be clearer in new season, but in the book it infers that Tywin was already dying of poisoning when Tyrion killed him. The horrible smell when his body is in state, matches the description of one of Oberons poisons.
Also, an interesting on is that (in the book this is clearer, less so in the series I think), that Cerseii mistakenly poisoned Joffrey, and that’s what has been driving her ever crazier. It’s based on the pie being eaten first, and it being Tyrions, and Cerseii organising the wedding. Would be a reasonable driver for the plot, but probably doesn’t make much difference. Interestingly the Cerseii POV in the books never addresses the subject of Joffreys death. Olenna’s admission to the poisoning kind of ruins this in the series, but the book that information doesn’t come from her, it comes from Littlefinger who didn’t attend and perhaps assumed.
GRRM says characters (no names given) will die in the upcoming season of GOT who didn’t die in the books: Martin says 'Game of Thrones' will deviate from books
Interesting use of words: “Who didn’t” vs “Who won’t”.
I know its drifted a lot from the books at the moment, maybe its time to just accept its not the same thing anymore.
There’s already characters who’ve died in the series, but not in the books. Grenn. Talisa Stark’s equivalent. Pyatt Pree? Qotho?
It strikes me as if some characters are likely to have done something waaay different from the book version, and might be prime for killing. Sam not being at the citadel (and the Bravos voyage) might leave him open for the chop now.
Game of Thrones blooper reel from last season:
The GOT series will overtake the books, the producers confirm: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/game-of-thrones-showrunners-confirm-tv-show-will-overtake-the-books-making-bookreaders-lives-a-spoiler-nightmare-10127324.html?icn=puff-5#
Aiyeeeee!
That’s not saying much. George would need both remaining books on shelves before next March to not be passed. The slow will finish like 4 years before the books are finished, if they ever are.
I knew it was pretty much inevitable, but it still sucks. *A Storm of Swords *could probably have been broken up into 3 seasons. Hell, they still would have caught up and surpassed the books. We’re coming up on 4 years since ADWD was released. I imagine the 7th and final novel may not come until at least 2020.
Well, I’d rather watch GOT and get book-spoiled in real time with everyone else than put the show on hold for myself and be spoiled literally everywhere else in the world by accident or by trolls. If I can’t beat 'em, I gotta join 'em.
However, if I drop into a coma tomorrow and don’t wake up until the final two books are published, I’m reading them before I finish the show.
Plus the spoiling? Well, sure, some major events were covered by the show, but many were skipped and nearly everything was slightly different, at the very least. Reading the books will still be full of surprises, layers, and might even be very, very different except for bullet points.
That was amazing. Wow.
This could not have been made with children in mind because children who need to learn to count to three will not appreciate this thing of beauty.
