Martin has already said he’s taking his series to the grave.
He also said he was going to finish it, so I take whatever he says with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Unless GRRM burns his voluminous notes (quite possible, as Shelby Foote did with his incomplete last novel), I expect his literary executor will choose some capable fantasy writer(s) to finish the GOT book series. His next of kin, who stand to profit bigtime, and many of his fans, will demand it. And that’s fine with me. There will inevitably be those who say the remaining books aren’t as good as the originals, but what the hell, I still wanna read 'em.
Abso-freakin’-lutely that, too!

Nice!
Suh-weet!
Cool. I recognize country star Brad Paisley, but none of the others.
start of video gives the names for each guy. One of them is the showrunner Dan Weiss
Yes. But seeing the names is one thing; recognizing them is something else.
I happened to notice my GoT books this morning. It occurred to me I’m not going to read any more GoT books. Too much time has passed.
He’s a better guitarist than he is a show-runner. At least he ended his solo solidly, un-rushed and true to what he had been playing before.
ISWYDT.
Yes, Discourse, that’s what I meant to post.
I was pretty sure someone would use that video as a way to take another swipe at a showrunner. And I was not disappointed.
I live to serve.
TLDR: He’s still working on it… and still too @#$%^! distracted by other stuff.
I honestly wish George would just stop posting updates. We get it — you’re an astoundingly rich old man who’d rather spend what limited time you have on this Earth on pursuits that interest you more that the legacy series where you wrote yourself into a corner.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I think he is largely fishing us in with false hope, then trying to sell the Wildcard books to people…
