Not long ago I saw the 2012 British political thriller miniseries Secret State. It was so-so, but the cast includes the actors who played Tywin Lannister, Edmure Tully, Stannis Baratheon and Maester Qyburn.
We’re watching the season premiere of Dark Winds right now – the AMC series based on Tony Hillerman’s Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee novels, set on the Navajo reservation in the Southwest.
George R.R. Martin and Robert Redford are among the series’ executive producers, and the two of them had cameos in this episode, as two guys being held in the reservation’s jail. The two were shown playing chess in the jail cell, and Redford’s character chastised Martin’s character for taking too long: “C’mon, George, the whole world’s waiting for your next move.”
