Vanilla is an ignorant bitch.

I came to this late, as usual, but this was one great thread.

BWAHAHAHA!

OK, fine. It is clear enough that I have been reamed in this thread, and certainly not without justification. I was whipped up in anti-fundie fervor over in the Jack Chick thread and my jaw dropped to see someone agree with ANYTHING the man was saying. This was not something deserving of it’s own thread, and I certainly should not have called vanilla a bitch over this. I do not agree with what vanilla wrote, but that really doesn’t matter for shit. She did take the time to read the books and make an educated decision, and therefore by definition not an ignorant one.

So here it is:

vanilla, I apologize. I should not have started this thread, and I have been reamed by the dopers present accordingly. I should not have called you a bitch, nor accused you of being ignorant. That means that calling you an ignorant bitch is right out.

LC

Well. Thank you, Mr. Chaarms.
(you just want the chocolate, don’t you? )

This comes rather late, but I feel the need to jump to the defense of the OP, who has been thoroughly reamed. There’s no doubt that he was intemperate…I don’t think Vanilla was a bitch in the thread linked do, nor do I think she was ignorant, but I certainly understand his frustration. The belief that magic exists and that books like Harry Potter could lead people to it seems…and here it’s hard to find the right word. Foolish? Superstitious? Certainly irrational. Of course, Vanilla has the right to her opinion, and to raise her children however she sees fit, but it bothers me a little that, as we come into the 21st century, there are still people who believe in things like magic and demons and other supernatural things. It makes me sad, also, that someone would forbid their children from reading the Harry Potter books, which I consider to be some of the finest, not only children’s fantasy, but adult fantasy, to have been written in some time. I’d stress again that everyone has the right to believe what they want, and, so long as they are not abusive or neglectful, to raise their children however they see fit, but it still makes me a little sad to know that some parents teach their children things like that, and am a little afraid of what those children might become.

So Nancy Drew isn’t an introduction to police work?

Oh.

Damn. Hours of wasted reading.
Does this mean I don’t have to buy that sporty roadster now?

And can I drop my irritating chubby friend Jinx?
Disappointedly,

“Stay tuned for a very special Pit Thread…”

What the hell?

LC’s apologized; Monty and Vanilla are new best buddies. Gawd, it reminds me of those horrible episodes of sitcoms where they get all socially aware and decide to tackle serious issues like breast cancer or the homeless situation…

This is the PIT, people!

L-

P.S. If someone calls for a group hug, I’m gonna hurl!

Actually, I’d prefer a group hurl.

Methinks sympathy chucking ranks right up there with surprise farts.

You know, we’ve had fun here tonight, but breast cancer in the homeless population really is no joking matter. If you want to help, please call the number listed on your screen below. Remember, YOU can make a difference.

This reminds me of a thread I started about 2 years ago. It was called I Love you guys. I started it in the pit (under the name orangecakes). Go check it out.
It started all huggy and all, and ended with Ph*****s and Pl at each others throats.
