Men, it’s basketball tournament time. And you know what that means: while winning teams are snipping away the nets, your friendly neighborhood urologist could be snipping away…well, you know.
“For men who are die-hard basketball fans, March Madness is the season of watching the NCAA Basketball play-off games. The frenzy of daily games makes March an exciting time to be sitting in front of the television, which also makes it the perfect time for men to consider having a vasectomy. The required recovery time following the surgical procedure will allow them time off to watch the tournaments live in the comfort of their homes.”
Isn’t vasectomy recovery like 24 hours and then no heavy lifting for a week. I’m not thinking you’ll get all the way to the final four before they expect you to get back to work.
On the other hand, deliver a baby and its six weeks.
I think it depends on just what kind of vasectomy you get. I got one of those no-scalpel/no-needle ones, and I had it done late on a Friday afternoon, and just loafed for most of the rest of the weekend. Went back to work on Monday, with restrictions of no heavy lifting and no sex until the following weekend.
Really though, after the first 3 days, it wasn’t so bad- the boys were kind of sensitive, but not really painful.
However, if you get the old slice-2-holes-in-the-sack style, the recovery time is much greater, as is the risk of complications.
When I had mine, the day of I was very sore, and still pretty tender the next day. I was good for normal tasks by the day after that, though. I made the mistake of going for a long walk 4 days after, and that was a mistake (I paid for that in the evening), but otherwise not too bad. Of course, no major strenuous activity for about a week or so.
