Considering Vasectomy.
I’ve done all the research. I understand the procedure and what to expect.

Considering Vasectomy.

No problems experienced at all. The day of the surgery wasn’t the most comfortable I’ve ever had though. Ice packs or bags of frozen veggies are your friend. I followed my doctor’s recovery advice to the letter and like I said had no problems at all, very little swelling and/or bruising.
Three very close friends of mine have all had it done.
Friend #1 (Pete) had it done a few years back in his late 20’s after “Surprise #4.” On the way home from surgery, he devised an ingenious plan:
The Mrs. (Deb) had won the “vasectomies are more practical than tubals” argument. Unfortunately, she made the “mistake” of not taking off from work on that day all married men fear. “I’m not losing a day’s pay to attend such a trivial outpatient procedure” is how she put it. Pete ended up going to the urologist without his better half (meaning the Mrs. in this case) and came out of surgery with flying colors. True, that Friday his wife collected a full week’s wages, but the trade-off was she missed both the pre- and post-surgical consultations.
Deb had arrived home from her job around dinner time and found her newly-snipped spouse on his recliner, ice-bag in hand.
“Hon, thanks for being there for me,” Pete said in his most sarcastic tone.
“Oh cut the crap,” his wife retorted, “don’t be such a baby.”
“All right, maybe I expected it to be worse than it was,” Pete replied, “I’ll concur, there wasn’t a pressing need for your moral support - but the post operative consultation was very informative.”
“What do you mean?” Deb asked - her voice starting to sound a bit more concerned.
“Well according to the Dr., I’ve got enough live ‘swimmers’ in me to last at least 100 ejaculations,” Pete informed her, “And I’ll be tender down below for at least 6 weeks…You know how long it takes and how much I hate hand-jobs, so the Doc recommends ‘oral relief’ twice daily until I’m completly sterile and the tenderness has subsided enough for more traditional activities.”
According to the both of them, he made it to the middle of #99 before breaking out laughing and fessing-up to his gross exaggerrations.
I’ve related Pete & Deb’s story to the two friends that have been cut since & both have used it to varying degrees of “suck-cess”.
I had a really bad time of it; really bad - anaesthetic failure, bad bruising, serious infection, problems with suture removal etc - the full monty, but I would still recommend the procedure to anyone who is truly ready for it.
Just so you know, they’re not reversible. At least, not easily or reliably. Kinda like the trying to stitch a cut garden hose back together, except that the hose is less than a millimeter thick and slippery.

Mr. Adoptamom tolerated the procedure well. He followed Doc’s orders to the letter for post operative care and was “back in the saddle” right on schedule.
He also enjoyed the main lined valium used during the procedure and proceeded to crack everyone up with all of his corny jokes!
Did it 16 years ago. No problems.
Well 1 - I had mine done on Halloween, and one of the surgeons had vampire teeth in.
I’ve posted my horror story many times before.
Without a doubt, the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. Period.
Hubby walked around like he’d spent too much time on a horse for a few days. But no problems, and I don’t think it was too bad.
Then again, he probably knew better than to complain, after I went through painful infertility procedures - including surgery, nine months of a not pleasant pregancy and then labor and delivery. It may have been the most painful, worst thing he’s ever experienced, but unless he though it measured up to giving birth, he knew better than to expect too much sympathy.
I had it done about 7 years ago. The only procedure related problem I had was NOT ENOUGH ANAESTHETIC! Damn HMOs must’ve been in a cost cutting mode because half way through #2 I was almost crawling off the table. Post Op was uncomfortable for a couple of days, but no bruising or swelling. I also endorse the bag o’frozen peas. And a big bottle of scotch. Oh, and shave beforehand. You don’t want Nurse Ratchett down there with a razor…

My own experience from about 10 years ago was uneventful. Some pain and soreness for a few days, but that’s all. An ice pack helped a lot.
