VEGAS FEST! Maybe?

What’s with all this wedding stuff? Who’s getting hitched?

Ok, I’m in for sure.

Diane, please put me down for a room in one of the blocks at the Imperial Palace, if that’s where the majority of the group decides to stay. I’ll reserve with a credit card as soon as we know how.

And as much as I’d love to sit beside Diane and Zette (actually I’d give significant body parts to sit there) I’m still probably driving, so if anyone needs a ride from SLC to Las Vegas and back, let me know. I don’t know where most of you are coming from, but if it’s easier and/or cheaper to arrange transportation to and from SLC and ride the rest of the way, I’ve got a couple of seats empty.

What!?! Nothing from Octavia, Lissla Lissar or Guinastasia? You have to come visit me :D!

In Henderson (a city directly connected to Vegas) There is a a hotel called the “Rainforest” Which I could could of sworn was advertising rooms for 23-30 dollars and night sun-thurs. I’ll have to check on it.

Please add me to attendees, Diane.

-Mademoiselle, local Las Vegan since birth.

And UNLV attendee!

Hey all,

A couple thoughts:

First for those on the

I have an apartment on Twain and Maryland parkway that is pretty close to the Strip. I can put up one person if you don’t mind cats.

Next, I just talked to the Indoor Skydiving place and, while the girl I talked to couldn’t give me a whole lot of detail, it sounds like that if we get 15 people to sign up there is a group rate available. I will find out more when I talk to the manager tomarrow. People this is a blast! It is a really incredible experence and there are only 3 or 4 of these in the US. Here is a link

Third, the cheap buffets tend to be off the strip. I asked my parents, who go about twice a week, for their suggestions. I’ll let you know when I find the best deals.

Well, nobody NOW!

Where have I been? Another native Vegas Doper checking in. I’m there. So there. Well, I’m there right now. But you get the point.

Other things we might consider:

Valley of Fire. It’s an ancient man site with some cool petroglyphs.

Redrock Canyon. Very nice sandstone formations, and if anybody’s into it, excellent rock climbing. We also have a decent rock climbing gym, with about 30 different walls.

Lake Mead. In the middle of October, lake temp is still around 80, usually. Jet skis and boats are rentable.

The Ocean Spray Cranberry tour and the Ethel M chocolate factory tour are both neat-o.

Jack’s Velvet Lounge at the Venetian is a good place to have drinks bought for you (well, okay, if you’re a woman), is quiet enough to talk, and has no cover. Perhaps a good Friday night stop.

Do you want me to organize group dinner on Saturday? It would be very easy for me to do so once we get a little more of a bead on the numbers.

Woo! Dopefest! Woo!

Bump

So Diane, is my math correct? Assuming we end up with 4 people in our room, it will be around $26 per person, per night? ($72 + 30 for the extra two people, plus electric surcharge)

Zette

Vegas.
Hmmm, I never been to Vegas.
I’ll see what Spider Woman thinks.

More on the indoor skydiving bit.

I just talked to the manager of the skydiving place and a group discount is $5.00 off per person for 15 people or more. It’s not alot. She also said prices are going up from $45 for the first flight to $50 due to energy costs. (It’s fair, Nevada power bought a bunch of really exspensive long term electric contracts last year and are now hiking rates as much as possible) She said the price might be back to normal in October depending on what Nevada power does.

She also meantioned something that I should have said about this. You have to be in good physical condition to fly. If you have back, neck or shoulder problems you shouldn’t fly. You also need your weight to be in proportin(SP?, I don’t feel like spell checking) to your height. The example she gave is that a 6 '2 person weighing 200 would probably be ok while a 5’4 person with the same weight wouldn’t be able to fly.

Damn…if Jack Batty is going I need to see if I can sweet talk my husband into letting me make a second solo trip out. Hmmmm…

Yep, sounds about right. Then of course any damage you may do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Slight bump in the road.

I am right in the middle of a hassle with the IP. Everything was moving right along in booking the block of rooms and gathering wedding information then BAM! I get a canned e-mail that said “We regret to inform you that we are sold out for these dates. Thank you for your interest with the Imperial Palace.”

I am hoping that they have somehow confused my follow up message with the first one and that our group is part of the reason they are booked. I will call the rep later to ask what’s up.

If worse comes to worse, I will find a couple of alternative hotels that are in that same area. Won’t be a big deal, but it may not me the IP.

SHEEEEEEEEEEET!

Put me on the maybe list–I can’t see far enough into the future to say yea or nay at this point–but I wanna go!! I will also be needing a roomie if I go.

Like Payne N. Diaz said.

[sub]First time I post with a “me too!” reply![/sub]

Diane, you missed me on the list. Unless that was the “needing a hotel room” list, in which case, way to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Again, do you want me to organize group dinner? I can start by suggesting some places. And do you want me to talk to someone about this room thing?

bristlesage - Whoops, sorry I missed ya the first time around. I have you and GIGObuster on the list.

It would be GREAT if you want to organize a group dinner and if you can talk to someone about the rooms. I am waiting for someone to call me back from the IP and will call them this afternoon if I haven’t heard anything.

Thanks!

Whoah, put me on the spot.

I’m going to try to make it, but I’m still not sure if I can. I just started a new job, and I only get one week of vacation, which I may be using for the Gingy/Dave wedding in July … and, I’m more or less of a pauper so things like plane tickets and hotel rooms seem like lofty purchases to me.

I swear to Buddha I’m doing my best to figure it all out, and I would absolutely luurrrvvveee to make it … but I can’t guarantee anything.

Any word on hotel rooms, etc? Don’t mean to be a pain, just wondering.

Count my husband and I in on the indoor skydiving thing. Definitely.
