Venture Bros. 10/15

Nope, that was the finale. Thirteen episodes per season, and that was the 13th.

The bumps also congratulated Publick and Hammer on another successful season. Here’s hoping that we don’t have to wait so long for the next one- this show is high on my favorites list these days. I guess the season isn’t REALLY over for me because I have a few episodes I missed…

Don’t forget the other Star Wars reference in there: Brock’s “Great shot, kid, that was one in a million!”

So the next question is: when do the Season 2 DVDs hit the street?

I wish I knew that - hopefully they’ll explain it soon.

Another possibility: maybe Dr. Girlfriend (say, should that be Dr. Wife now? That does NOT sound as cool) told the Monarch how he really wound up in jail.

I heard “Fuck!” and I wasn’t even paying attention.

Actually, I don’t think so. It hit me tonight what they’re planning for next season (which I’ll be sorely pissed if it isn’t already in the works since VB is one of the highest rated shows on AS and if TGTTM can get picked up with ratings nowhere near as good as VB, then VB should be shoe-in for renewal). And normally, I’m opposed to spoiler boxes, but because this would be like telling people on their way into the premiere of Citizen Kane that Rosebud is his sled, I’ll actually use the damn things.

The biggest surprise isn’t going to be that Dr. Girlfriend is pregnant it’s that
Either Rusty or Brock is the father! (I’m going with Rusty, but I won’t rule Brock out entirely.) It’s the only thing that makes sense. Dr. Girlfriend realizes that she’s pregnant and that it’s Rusty’s kid, so she bails on the Monarch because she knows that he’ll go apeshit if he finds out, and if she’s not around, he probably won’t be able to take out Rusty. She shacks up with Phantom Limb because she knows that he won’t care that she’s carrying Rusty’s kid. She still loves the Monarch, though, and that’s why at the trial when he’s hypnotized, she says to him that she had nothing to do with it. (She might have gotten him busted in hopes that he’d stay locked up long enough for her to have the kid.)

When he manages to escape, this puts a real crimp in her plans. He may not be as sophisticated as Phantom Limb, but he’s a helluvalot more interesting. This is why she has her affair with the Monarch, and when he proposes marriage to her, she lays out the condition that he’s got to leave the Venture family alone. She can’t bear the thought that she’d help kill the father of her child.

Of course, she could have gotten her freak on with Brock when Rusty was out cold and Brock could have been the one who got her knocked up, but given the writer’s sense of humor, I think that it’s going to be Rusty. Worse yet (for him), it’ll have been a total sympathy lay and she was barely able to remain awake during the whole thing. :D
I loved it! One of the Best. Episodes. Evar! Old-school “Treehouse of Horror” level writing. I was a little thrown by Dean’s dream sequence too unti I watched it a second time. A lot of this season’s episodes are better on second viewing.

Brock’s speech to the Monarch’s henchmen was one for the ages, and exemplified a lot of what I like about this show. 1) it was funny (“Today, you are MURDER-FLIES!”) 2) it was true to the tradition it was parodying. (“We fly for the command ship!”) It’s not just making fun of the adventure/science fiction/fantasy genres, it is actually good action/scifi/fantasy itself!

Wait, Tuckerfan, before I read that…is that what you think will happen, or what you somehow know will happen?

This is in reply to Tuckerfan’s spoilered content, which I’m not going to bother reproducing:

ISTM that Brock does not have a Dr. GF notch on his weenie. She just freaks him out too much, with that voice. Be that as it may, which episode in which Rusty is out cold did you have in mind for Brock and Dr. GF to get together?

I watched this again last night. I think The Alchemist had his eye on Hank when they were on the X-1 at the end.

She must have been talking very fast if she told him all that in that moment-long cutaway.

Brock seemed actually disgusted by Dr. Girlfriend the last time they met. He said ravishing her never even crossed his mind, and she had the great reply “Well I’m not going to beg.” He’s convinced she’s a transsexual. Brock would have to be unconscious for it to happen.

Its what I think will happen.

kaylasdad99, Midlife Chrysalis.I know she said that she didn’t sleep with him, but she was there all night. All she had to do is jab him in the neck and bail, but for some reason, she chose to spend the night, so it’s entirely possible that she did make the beast with double backs with Rusty.

Marley23, I imagine she only got the “I’m pregnant” before the Monarch went off. Remember that ep where he’d kidnapped the boys and had that fight with Dr. Girlfriend about kids? I’m WAGging that had something to do with her present condition. If you remember, when she was at the Venture compound, she was in disguise, so Brock might not have recognized her, plus, Brock was down in the dumps about his secret agent license expiring. And guys who are in emotionally vulnerable places have been known to bang chicks they wouldn’t normally do. That might also be why he’s so concerned with finding out if she’s transgendered, since he’s squicked out at the thought that he might have slept with a “dude.”

You make your points well, Tuckerfan. Everybody guessed the plot twists for ‘Showdown: Pt. 2’ and the season two premiere pretty successfully, so I’ll just wait and see this time.

According to Publick’s blog, March is the projected date, but nothing nailed down as of yet. Also, I note in reading it, that AS has not made up their mind if they’re going to renew the show or not.

 IMHO, VB is one of the best animated programs of all time (ranks right up there with the best of the Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, and Family Guy), and if AS doesn’t pick it up, I"m probably gonna go all neolithitc on AS’s asses.

Maybe they can get Showtime to take it over…

He seems optimistic, though. Adult Swim praised their ratings during the season finale bumps, so you’d have to think the signs point to yes.

Maybe we could ask Manic Eight Ball?
