Sacher-Masoch is the man masochism is named after. He wrote the book “Venus in Furs” about a man named Severin who visited women to have them beat him for his jollies. I haven’t read all of the book… but I have ummmm practiced his philosophy… from both sides.
Totally off the subject: I’d like to back the Overture from Phntom of the Opera with VU’s Venus in Furs… “Sing for me my darling, Bleed for me” Yeah I know … I am twisted.
