I’ll be at Nectar’s in downtown Burlington Wednesday night (May 26). Anybody else is welcome, I’ll buy you a beer! (Or whatever.) I’ll be the huge guy in the hawaiian shirt.

As far as I know, I’m the only active Burlington Doper (though I’d love to be proven wrong). What time Wednesday night? I could probably make it to Nectars, and I’d love to meet you. Out of curiosity, do any other evenings next week work? Wednesday is the one day that I might have something else coming up.
I’m easy – how about Tuesday? 7:00pm?
If you have any interest, I have a few friends who go to a ‘pub quiz’ trivia-type game on Tuesdays at 8. It’s good fun, we’re not all that good, and we’re always open to newcomers. We’d love to have you there, or I’d be happy to meet you at 7 somewhere (Nectars?), or both! I’m easy too, so just let me know.
How long are you in town for? I’m going to be there Friday June 4th - a friend is getting married nearby AND it just happens to be reunion weekend for UVM, so I took that as a sign to get some time off and fly back.
BTW, I heard a rumor that the Last Chance got closed down a while back. Is this true? Is Mr Mike’s still there? How about Esox?
Last Chance Saloon? I’m a young 'un (24), and I don’t even think it was up and running when I turned 21.
Esox is still there, as is Mr. Mike’s.
I don’t know when you left town, but the big changes in recent years have been:
Sha-Na-Na’s is closed (though if you go back even farther, it’s the place that used to be… Hunt’s I think?).
Um, Club Toast was (I think) a pretty happening music spot that closed maybe five or six years ago now.
Otherwise, as far as I know there haven’t been any closings. Oh, I guess that’s not totally true; there’s one bar that was down on Winooski Ave and North St that closed a year or two ago. I never went there, so I can’t remember what it was called.
Oh, and we just passed a law; no smoking indoors.
How about Nectar’s at 7:00, then if all agree we can head off to the trivia thing – I know how to get to Nectar’s…
Sadly, lightingtool, I leave Friday afternoon. I’ll be back, on an infrequent basis, as long as I keep present employment.

Though I can not make the Burlington Night at Nectar’s, my wife and I have a large 4 bedroom cabin on Lake Groton - just east of Burlington, Wells River exit off 91…And would love to host a Mid-summer’s night VT Fest. Plenty of Magic Hat and good eats…So maybe we can leave that in the back of our brain…Have fun at nectars…
It was a mini-mini dopefest, just Eonwe and myself. We had dinner at Nectar’s, then headed off to an Irish Pub (Murphy’s on tap! Yum.). Our team, the ‘1920’s Style’ Death Rays, finished in the top 3, but out of the prize loop. It was great fun, and a fine night.
Phlosphr, I know I’ll be back the week of July 16, other than that, I’m not sure. Sounds like fun though.
It’s been a great trip to beautiful Vermont, I look forward to coming back again.
Glad you guys had a good time! I just met Eonwe at our New England mini-dopefest last weekend. Fun guy! We’re starting to plan on another New England event during the summer. It would be great to meet more New Englanders. (Or anyone who’s in the area at the time.)
