I’m bringing a friend to the Dopefest on Saturday, as he is my ride home. Just so you all know. He’s good people, but you might not want to get him started on sheep.
So do we get him started on something more mundane, like penguins? Just want to know what to bring with me.
OK, so here is the current plan. On Friday the 28th, a contigent of Dopers will arrive at Papa Franks’s in Winooski at 6:30. We will eat Italian food and possibly be addressed as “hon” by the waitress. If not addressed by the waitress as such, we may address eachother thusly, or by the mysterious Hot New York Ladies that Wonko has offered rides to. After dinner, Swiddles and anyone else who has Ten D tickets (anyone?) will commence to Higher Ground, which used to be a Denny’s. Swiddles will make her customary “ALL Denny’s should be turned into Rock and Roll Clubs” rant. As she is calling Cute Ticket Guy on Thursday night to find out whether or not he has a ticket for her, she will know at the time of dinner, and will inform the assembled Dopers of her flirting skill, or lack thereof.
On Saturday, there will be kite flying, possibly in Waterfront Park, although I suggest that you park there and walk up Battery St to fly kites at Battery Park, as it is much more open, and usually less crowded, but you will get just as much breeze off the lake. I will be working VERY close to that location, and if you wanted to, and will attempt to find the BigAssKites on my break. However, please don’t try and find me, as I will get in trouble if like 10 Dopers come into my store with kites and hang out. Apparently, I am “chatty.” Whatever.
Afterwards, assembled Dopers will go to Halvorson’s, and eat and drink. A reservation has not yet been made, and I suggest doing that, as the UVM students clog up Burlington much like the annoying zebra mussel.
For this reason, I would like everyone who is planning on attending either event to give a shout out right now, for the sake of reservations.
Swiddles: Papa Franks and Halvorson’s after 9PM and before 11PM. (I’m a busy girl.)
Someone else please take over and figure out the number of people and call the reservations, please? I don’t have a computer, and am expecting the librarian to tell me my 15 minutes are up. Damned computer nazis.
On a sad note: I wore my Hootch boots all day on Sunday in the hopes of catching the attention of someone. Not only did I NOT catch his attention (I think, who knows.) but my insoles are screaming in agony today. So the likelyhood of my wearing the hootch boots is low. Plus, they put me over the 6 foot mark. Not cool at a floor-show concert.

Wonko, how are you planning on getting from NYC to VT? Depending on how you go, it might be possible for you to grab me.
I really don’t know the best way to get from NYC to VT, but if it goes near Albany, then I could easily provide some gas money to persuade a certain car to go a little further out of its way.

I’ll be happy to handle reservations at Halvorson’s. I probably won’t be at a computer after Thursday afternoon, so if you all could let me know whether or not you’re going by, oh, 4 on Thursday, that’d be mighty nice. 
Woohoo! I got a ticket for the “D”! Boy, do I deserve an entertaining weekend, I might even stay over for Saturday if the weather’s nice for kiting or if the “hard drinkers” are out in force on Friday, heh heh. First, Yue Han - Well, the babysitter came through but the bad news is that my Friday night plans have been diverted by circumstance. A good friend’s wife called to tell me of his surprise birthday party that night. Now I’m usually seen as a ‘bad influence’ on the man, but in this case it’s acceptable to her… So anyways I’m doing that instead. You should leave me your number so that if you DON’T manage a ride from Middlebury to Winooski and I happen to be able to do it, I can call. I’ll check my profile to make sure my e-mail is available.

Special_K has a rehearsal this weekend, so I don’t think she will be able to make it. I’ll let you know if that changes (or maybe she will).
I figure I’ll be at battery park around noon-esque. The kites are big, and they are predicting a 9mph wind from the south, so it should be a great day for it.

I’ll be out hiking on the Long Trail Saturday, so you won’t get to see me dragged across the park by a 10-foot parawing. And I was so looking forward to it.
